Share The Okotoks Dawgs will play the Melville Millionaires in a bid to win their third straight Western Major Baseball League championship. The first two games of the best-of-five final series will be in Okotoks, AB Wednesday, August 12, and Thursday, August 13. The third and fourth (if necessary) games will be played in Melville, SK August 14 and 15, and the fifth (if necessary) game will be played in Okotoks.

Adam Skonieczki, Buffalo, CF
Junior, Endicott, NY (Union-Endicott)
For the week, Skonieczki batted .455 with a pair of doubles and triples and two stolen bases. Skonieczki’s efforts at the plate and his twenty putouts in center field, helped the Bulls win their conference weekend series over #23 Kent State while tying the program mark for most wins in a season (19) since the the Bulls’ reinstatement in 2000. Rob Lawler, Buffalo, First Base

In the Bulls doubleheader versus Big Four rival Niagara University, Rob Lawler went a combine 4-for-6 with three RBIs and six runs. In the opening contest of the Bulls’ weekend conference series with Western Michigan, Lawler went 3-for-4 with an RBI. In the second game of the weekend series, the Bulls jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second with the Bulls getting on the board off an RBI-triple by Rob Lawler. Heading into the bottom of the fifth ahead 2-0, the Bulls began to build on their lead with a five-run effort. Lawler continued to add RBIs to his totals by poking a two-RBI double down the right-field line to extend the Bulls’ lead to 7-0. East Division Player of the Week
Tommy Nurre, Miami, First Base
Senior, Cincinnati, Ohio (St. Xavier)
Nurre led Miami to a 4-1 week, including the RedHawks’ first series sweep since April 27-29, 2007. Miami outscored its opponents 55-24 over the five-game week. Nurre was 11-for-20 for the week (.550) and recorded 10 runs and six RBIs while drilling six extra-base hits (four doubles and two home runs). He recorded an impressive 1.050 slugging percentage. We have come across a few links from around the country which feature some interesting college baseball news and notes. The first article comes from Baseball America who looks at the movers and shakers who have changed their draft stock in a positive or negative way through the first couple of weeks of the season. The Tufts Daily looks at the 2009 Tufts baseball team who is looking to win the NESCAC but have Trinity College (CT) blocking their way to the championship. The Sun in Hamburg NY has a profile on University at Buffalo head coach Charlie Karstedt who is starting to turn around the program in the competitive MAC. The official Xavier athletic site has a profile on Zac Richard whose intimidating presence at the plate and on the mound. The next link of the day comes from Division 3 school Lynchburg College where Jeff Taylor broke the school record for stolen bases in only his second season. Senior, North Lima, Ohio/South Range
Rohan had a career-high five hits and seven RBI in six at-bats and also scored a game-high four runs in the series finale against UNC Greensboro. He hit a two-run home run in the fourth and had his first career grand slam in the seventh. With the two home runs in the game, Rohan is currently tied for fifth in KSU history with 35 home runs. Share Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season Champion Kent State and Western Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office.
