I will be running a Live Blog from Manchester New Hampshire on Sunday July 5th at 2:45 pm Eastern time. The USA National (Collegiate) Team will take on an all-star squad from the NECBL. The chat will discuss the game and we will take questions about both teams. You can sign up for a reminder below. If this works out well, I will also run a Live Chat on Monday as I will also be in attendance when Team USA takes on the Holyoke Blue Sox. Read the rest of this entry »

SPECIAL TO TCBB
Written by Zach Thiel
Time is running out for men’s college baseball at University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Due to budget cuts the administration as of June 10th has decided to end their division three baseball program immediately unless $50,000 can be raised by September 1st. The first hurdle will allow play for the upcoming season; however an additional $375,000 will need to be raised by May 2010 to keep baseball at the school over the next 5 years. La Crosse has developed a long list of notable athletes over the years, to name a few: Brewers pitcher Jerry Augustine, Brewers/Huntsville Stars/Team Italy’s catcher Vinny Rottino, first baseman Craig Kusick, NFL lineman Tom Newberry and NFL WR Bill Schroeder. Yes, you read that correctly that Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle believes that Augie Garrido needs to let go by the University of Texas. His reasoning behind this ludicrous statement is the fact that Texas has not won a national championship since 2005. Justice also states that Augie can’t handle a pitching staff if he was given a compass and a map. I guess Justice needs to do his research a little bit before making this statement as Texas finished the season with the second best ERA in the nation. Nice job, Richard in doing your research. By the way, I was in the press box for the first four days of the College World Series and failed to see Justice covering the event. Read the rest of this entry »

The final day of my trip to Omaha is coming to a close. We went out to the local stores to get some souvenirs for the trip and I ended up getting a UC-Irvine hat which will go next to my Vanderbilt hat. They had an excellent selection from team’s across the country with even a Lehigh baseball hat available. Who would really buy a Lehigh hat? The blog went to both games of the doubleheader today with UNC and Texas both winning. Read the rest of this entry »
