It has been a frustrating few weeks for Texas Tech (8-7). After starting the year with five straight wins, the Red Raiders dropped seven of their last ten games heading into today’s contest, seeing their team ERA sky rocket to 6.61 and their team batting average fall to .311. The woes have not been [...]

Tempe, AZ – A cross valley rivalry was refreshed after a seven year hiatus on a damp, cool and blustery Tuesday night. Winds gusted to 35 mph as Grand Canyon and Arizona State took to the field, but by the end of the game great pitching had even calmed the weather and the flags [...]

Tonight’s game in Austin featured more than the usual Battle of Interstate 35, as Texas State and Texas were both in need of a big win. Texas State, last year’s Southland Conference Champions, entered the game with a 5-5 record, while the No. 6 Longhorns were looking to add a win to their resume [...]

The Houston College Classic has come and gone for yet another year. Last weekend’s event featured a trio of ranked teams, and three teams that were looking to make a statement in 2010. Stanford should feel cheated. Not cheated by today’s game or any game in Austin, but cheated by their opening weekend opponent.
After crushing the Rice Owls for 27 runs and 34 hits in three games at The Sunken Diamond, the Cardinal have only mustered three runs on 13 hits against the pitching-strong Texas Longhorns, dropping the [...]

Friday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium was slated to be a must see pitching matchup, but UCLA continued their early season dominance with a 9-2 victory over the previously unbeaten Vanderbilt Commodores. UCLA’s Gerrit Cole squared off against Vanderbilt’s Sonny Gray, who were both members of Team USA over the summer.

It wasn’t a renewal of the rivalry for Texas and Stanford, but rather a renewal of the importance of the series between two legendary programs in college baseball. Matching up a pair of outstanding teams, as well as sophomore starting pitchers, the opening game was expected to be a low-scoring affair.
Texas starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann [...]

Texas has spent the past few days in a very unfamiliar territory. After dropping their season opening series to New Mexico, the Longhorns owned a losing record for the first time since the start of the 2007 season.
Dallas Baptist kicked off the scoring when SS Travis Meiners drew a leadoff walk and came around to [...]
