Share The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 79 in our countdown with Coastal Carolina infielder/outfielder Scott Woodward. He is from Markle Indiana and attended Norwell High School where he led the team to a state championship as a senior. He finished his senior season with a .454 average including 60 runs, seven doubles, 24 runs-batted-in and 30 stolen bases. He was also outstanding on the mound going a perfect 8-0 with a 1.93 ERA. He was named First-Team All-Indiana selection as well as an All-Conference and an All-Area performer. He was also named to the Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason Central Region All-High School Senior Team.

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University baseball team and head coach Gary Gilmore have announced its 2010 schedule today (Oct. 14). The slate includes four in-season tournaments at home, five home games against West Coast powers, six games against teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and a 27-game Big South schedule.

Share According to a report from VYPE, John Fidanza of Louisville KY has committed to Coastal Carolina to play under Gary Gilmore. Fidanza has accumulated an outstanding high school resume which saw him named to the All-District 27 player as a sophomore while being All-District 27, All-Region 7, and Honorable Mention All-State as a junior.

(PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia) – Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) and Yasmani Grandal (Miami) hit a home run each and Team USA opened the 2009 Enbridge Northern Pipeline World Baseball Challenge with a 5-2 victory over Canada at Citizen Stadium.
Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) hit a solo home run over the wall in left field in the first inning to put the U.S. up front early, 1-0.

(SENDAI, Japan) – Sonny Gray (Vanderbilt) pitched five and a third innings of scoreless relief and Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) hit a three-run home run in the fourth to lead Team USA to an 8-4 victory over Japan in game three of the 37th Annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate Championships.
Team Japan scored three runs in the top of the first inning on USA starter Cody Wheeler (Coastal Carolina). Takahiro Araki hit an RBI triple to score the first run of the game and Masayoshi Kato followed with a two-RBI triple to put Team Japan up 3-0 after the first inning. Read the rest of this entry »

(CARY, N.C.) – USA Baseball announced Wednesday night the 22 members of its 2009 National Team (Collegiate). The roster is headlined by shortstop and 2008 National Team member Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton; Capey, Puerto Rico), and consists of five outfielders, six infielders, 10 pitchers, and one utility player. MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A total of 37 standout freshmen college baseball players from every part of the country are featured on the annual Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-American Team, the organization announced today.
The 2009 Pro-Line Athletic NCBWA Freshman All-American Team is comprised from 17 conferences and 10 conference championship teams. The two All-American squads are also made up of 12 conference “Rookie of the Year” winners.
