(KANNAPOLIS, N.C.) – Drew Pomeranz (Ole Miss) broke the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) record for strikeouts in a game with 17 and pitched six solid innings to lead the National Team to a 15-1 victory at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in the opening game of a four-game friendship series against Guatemala. (DURHAM, N.C.) – Rick Hague (Rice) went 3-5 with two doubles and three RBI and Gerrit Cole (UCLA) pitched lights out for six and two-thirds innings to lead the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) to an 8-1 win over Team Canada at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park Friday night.
Tyler Holt (Florida State) led the game off with a stand up double and stole third base on Canadian starting pitcher and sixth round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies, Steven Inch. (CARY, N.C.) – USA Baseball announced Wednesday night the 22 members of its 2009 National Team (Collegiate). The roster is headlined by shortstop and 2008 National Team member Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton; Capey, Puerto Rico), and consists of five outfielders, six infielders, 10 pitchers, and one utility player. (CARY, N.C.) – Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) went 3-4 with a solo home run and three RBI for the Blue Team in its 6-1 victory over the Red Team, Tuesday, at the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) Trials in Cary, N.C.

The first Coca-Cola Pitcher of the Week of 2009 hails from Bourne, with Braves pitcher Eric Cantrell securing that honor. Cantrell put on a masterful performance in the Braves’ first win of the year, a 5-1 victory over Wareham, recording eight shutout innings and improving to 1-0 on the season. (CARY, N.C.) – Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Blue Team defeated the Red Team 2-0 in a seven inning intrasquad game on Sunday at the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) Trials.
With runners on the corners and two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning, Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) hit an RBI single to right field that easily scored Casey McGrew (Wright State) from third base.
