TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (35-12) scored early and often Wednesday night in cruising to a 15-5 victory over Florida International (30-19) on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles tallied 11 runs in the first three innings as every FSU starter registered a hit as it was the first meeting between the two schools since 1991. ATHENS, Ga. – Jed Bradley scattered five runs over six innings and Jason Haniger went 4-for-5 with a home run to help No. 10 Georgia Tech (22-8-1) knock off top-ranked Georgia (29-7), 11-6, Tuesday night at Foley Field.
Bradley (2-2) tied a career-high with seven strikeouts to help the Yellow Jackets to their fifth win over a ranked opponent this season and their first against the nation’s top-ranked team since the 2003 season. ATHENS-Top-ranked Georgia scored four runs in the third and held off No. 22 Clemson, 6-5, Tuesday at Foley Field.
Georgia improved to 23-3 and won for the ninth time in 10 games while Clemson dropped to 18-8.

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Leopards began their 2009 baseball season with a bang, taking both games of a season-opening doubleheader in Davidson. Lafayette won a 2-1 decision against Ohio in the day’s first game and capped off the afternoon with a 10-6 win over host Davidson.
Senior shortstop Daniel Bierce led the Lafayette offense with five hits, including a two-run home run against Davidson, and added three RBI. Sophomore righty Zach Fritz tossed 6.2 shutout innings against Ohio and Corey Shea threw four innings of one-run relief in the Leopards’ second victory. Read the rest of this entry »
