Share The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 90 in our countdown with Florida Southern junior RHP Daniel Tillman. He is a 6’1 195 pound righhander from Live Oak, Florida and Suwannee High School. He was a third-team all-state selection in his junior and senior season.

 Division 2 Baseball Regionals announced (Courtesy of NCAA)
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee has selected the 48 teams that will participate in the 2009 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.
The championship provides for eight regional sites – six sites will host six teams, the West region will host four teams and the South region will host eight teams. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played at on-campus sites May 14-18. Regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 23-30 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. Share The Warner Royals, ranked #13 in the NAIA, defeated the Florida Southern Moccasins 9-5 on Tuesday afternoon. Florida Southern is ranked #1 in Division II.
The Royals were led by 1B Dan Smith of Lake Monmorah, Australia. He was 2-5 with a home run and two RBI. DH Jason Griffin also hit a two-run home run for the Royals. Share Eastern Kentucky picked up a victory over Kentucky State on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 49-1. Eastern Kentucky is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference while Kentucky State is a member of Division 2 where they are struggling with a 2-16 record. Read the rest of this entry »

AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward’s baseball team battled intense wind gusts during a doubleheader split with Newman Saturday afternoon at Lucian-Hamilton Field. The Hilltoppers fell in game one, 3-2, and won the second contest, 11-0.

SEARCY, Ark. – The 28th-ranked Ouachita Baptist University baseball team suffered its fourth straight Gulf South Conference West Division loss Saturday, falling 4-2 to Harding at Jerry Moore Field.
The Tigers (21-11 overall, 0-4 GSC West) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Ouachita took advantage of a error as Blake Lockwood scored on a JoeDan Poulter double to left.

AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward’s rallied from four runs down in game two to sweep a doubleheader from #22 Incarnate Word Saturday afternoon at Lucian-Hamilton Field. St. Edward’s won the first game, 4-3, and rallied to take game two, 9-6.
With the two victories today, St. Edward’s is now tied with Incarnate Word for third place just a half game out of first place.

Allendale, Mich. – The Grand Valley State baseball team (16-2) is ranked #1 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll that was released Tuesday (March 17). The Lakers received six first-place votes and 316 total points. The #1 ranking in the poll is Lakers’ first-ever seat atop a collegiate baseball poll.

ARKADELPHIA – It was a wild day at Rab Rodgers Field on Saturday as the 30th-ranked Ouachita Baptist University baseball team fell behind by 10 runs in the first inning and had to play behind the entire game, but couldn’t rally as Delta State took the first game of the Gulf South Conference West Division opener over the Tigers, 16-10.

ARKADELPHIA – The 30th-ranked Ouachita Baptist University baseball team cruised to a doubleheader sweep of East Central Tuesday afternoon as the Tigers won the opener, 5-3, and took the second game, 14-3, at Rab Rodgers Field.
In the opener, Jared Hershberger went six-plus strong innings to get the victory and improve to 3-0 on the year. He gave up three runs on six hits with a pair of strikeouts. Patrick Lemmond earned the save, his fifth of the season.

AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward’s baseball team took a one-run lead into the top of the ninth inning but they could not hang onto the lead and fell to #12 Angelo State, 11-5, Tuesday afternoon at Lucian-Hamilton Field.
St. Edward’s (12-10) got on the board early in this bout with Angelo State (17-7). Center fielder Dylan Schuch led off the game with a single up the middle and then came around to score on a sacrifice fly from designated hitter Daniel Rufini.
