Boyles in 2008 NCAA Tourney, Division 3FROM CBB NEWS SOURCE Will it be Tim Kiely carrying Trinity (Conn) to a regional sweep, keeping the Bantam’s undefeated streak alive? Will Kurt Yacko take Chapman to another Championship appearance? Can Matt Tone be the missing piece of a national championship that has eluded Cortland State for years? FROM CBB NEWS SOURCES MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The first day of the 2008 GSC Baseball Tournament went the opposite of last year’s opening day as the East Division teams took the early games and the West Division squads won the late contests. East No. 3 Montevallo (34-23) opened the Tournament with the day’s biggest surprise, upsetting West No. 2 Southern Arkansas (41-9), 12-3. UM never trailed in the game, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning, led by B.J. Holloway’s two-run single. The Falcons stretched their lead to 4-0 in the third, only to see SAU plate its first run in the bottom of the frame. Montevallo put the game on ice in the fifth inning, scoring five runs on five hits capped by Eric Moore’s RBI double. UM reliever Nate Russ recorded the victory, going 4.2 innings with five strikeouts, zero earned runs. Moore led the offense, going 3-for-6 with two doubles and three RBI. Tags: Division 3

Aman Reaka and myself have been accumulating a bunch of questions from our readers over the past few weeks about the upcoming MLB draft. We have picked out the five best questions that have been sent to us and have answered them below.
Appleton, Wisc. - Sophomore Matt Sullivan (North Reading, Mass.) and senior tri-captain Guy Gogliettino, Jr. (Wallingford, Conn.) drew back-to-back bases loaded full count walks with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Trinity College Bantams edged the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays 5-4 in the NCAA Div. III National Championship Tournament final game today, giving the Bantams the Div. III National Title.
FROM CBB NEWS SOURCE
Trinity College was undefeated, and rested after a day off on Saturday. The University of Southern Maine had played two games Saturday afternoon, and its pitching was stretched thin. A good combination for the Bantams, who advanced to the 2008 NCAA Division III Baseball World Series on Sunday by topping Southern Maine in the New England Regional Final, 10-3.
