Seniors Andrew Damewood (Plano, Texas) and Kyle Braden (Carrollton, Texas) each hit two homeruns to combine for four of the University of Texas at Tyler’s five homeruns on the day, as the Patriots swept Louisiana College in a doubleheader, 6-5 and 13-0.
In the first game, Kyle Braden made his senior day a memorable one by hitting a walk-off solo homerun to lift the Patriots over the Wildcats, 6-5. Braden was 2-for-2 on the day with three runs and 2 RBIs.

LONGVIEW, Texas — The 7th-ranked University of Texas at Tyler baseball team put up 29 runs Saturday and the Patriots shutout LeTourneau in an American Southwest Conference doubleheader sweep . The Patriots took the first game 10-0 and followed up with a 19-0 win in the game two.
The Patriots got the scoring started in the third inning when junior Jeremy Harding (Houston, Texas) hit a grand slam to put UT Tyler up, 4-0.

RICHARDSON, Texas – Junior Blake Booher (Hurst, Texas) was named East Division Pitcher of the Week for games played March 24-30 by the American Southwest Conference on Monday night.
In Booher’s one appearance on the week, he threw a two-hit, complete game shutout. Booher struck out 10 batters and walked just two in the nine-inning near masterpiece. Booher held his opponents to a meager .071 batting average in the 7-0 Patriot win

The seventh-ranked University of Texas at Tyler baseball team avenged and early season away loss to Hardin-Simmons in a big way on Tuesday night at Irwin Field, by downing the Cowboys, 17-6.
It was a big night offensively for UT Tyler, as they out hit Hardin-Simmons 25-to-10 and scored in every inning but the final one. Senior Clay Baker (Henderson, Texas) and junior Jared Hood (Marshall, Texas) both hit homeruns on the evening. Junior Joe Towns (Carrollton, Texas) went 5-for-6 with three runs, three doubles and two RBIs, while junior Kendall Fox (Carrollton, Texas) went 2-for-3 with three walks and two runs.

BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott College has announced the appointment of Bryan Haley as the new head baseball coach. Bryan will also work in the admission office in the capacity as Assistant Director.
Bryan comes to Endicott with an extensive coaching background having served as the assistant coach at his alma mater, Brandeis University, in 2000 and 2002. While at Brandeis, Haley coached a pitching staff that ranked 16th in the nation with a 3.41 ERA and earned an NCAA New England Regional Tournament bid. The College Baseball News has put out their 2008 Preseason Poll for Division 2. They have put the two time defending national champion Tampa in the top spot. They went 53-10 in 2007 and return a strong squad in their hunt for their third straight national championship. Columbus State, Florida Southern, Mesa State, and Abilene Christian round out the top 5. The full poll is available here.
The College Baseball News has also put out their 2008 Preseason Poll for Division 3. The publication puts Wooster (OH) in the top spot with Cortland State coming up in the second spot. The top five is filled out by Kean (NJ), Chapman (CA), and Emory (GA). The full poll is available here.

The Endicott College, a Division 3 school in Beverly MA, announced that Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Larry Hiser has resigned effective January 31st to become the AD at Marietta College in Ohio. Hiser was the first and only baseball coach in the school’s history starting out in 1994. He accumulated a 263-216 record including four Commonwealth Coast Conference titles. In 2005, two of his players have become professional players including one getting drafted in 2005. The full press release from Endicott College is available here. Endicott has not announced yet who will take over the baseball program during the 2008 season.

The NCAA has released both its Division 2 and Division 3 brackets. The CBB will be attending a few games up at the Division 2 regional hosted by the Franklin Pierce Ravens who won the Northeast 10 conference. There will also be a Division 3 regional in Harwich MA in which Wheaton is the number 1 seeded team.

 Bridgewater State College of Massachusetts squeaked by Newbury College 57-1 on Monday. They set new NCAA records for runs and margin of victory in victory. They also set records with 54 RBIs and 42 hits. Junior left fielder Steve Smith had seven hits, seven runs scored, and drove in ten runs to lead the Bears to victory.
