Led by Most Valuable Player A.J. Pollock of the Falmouth Commodores and the trio of hard-hitting catcher Tommy Medica, infielder Joseph Sanders and pitcher Chris Manno of the league champion Harwich Mariners, the 2008 All-League Team has been announced by Cape Cod Baseball League Commissioner Paul Galop. Due to a mixup by the Boston Red Sox, the ACC Baseball tourney has been removed from Fenway Park after a scheduling mixup between the Boston Red Sox and the Fenway Sports Group. The reason behind this is the fact that the Boston Red Sox gave the wrong dates to Major League Baseball and have scheduled games for that weekend. 
The Cape Cod Baseball League Championship series starts up this afternoon when Cotuit hosts Harwich in Game 1 of the best out of three set. The Cotuit Kettleers will send Arizona State’s Seth Blair to the mound while Harwich will send Duke lefty Chris Manno. 
The College Baseball Blog took in the Cape Cod All-Star game on Saturday night which was won by the Eastern All-Stars 8-6 in an exciting game. We take a look at the Eastern Division today with some thoughts on the pitchers that saw action in the All-Star game. 
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Miami, the top seed in this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship, led all schools with eight selections on the 2008 All-ACC Baseball Team and also claimed a pair of individual superlatives, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. The honors are selected by a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Tim Federowicz went 2-for-5 with three RBI and then recorded the game-ending strikeout with the tying run on third base to lift No. 2 North Carolina to a 12-11 win over No. 1 Miami and a series victory Saturday at Mark Light Field. Behind a home run and five RBI from Tim Fedroff and four hits and two RBI from Kyle Shelton, the Tar Heels (45-10, 22-7 ACC) built an eight-run lead through five innings and held off a late rally by the Hurricanes (43-8, 23-5) to win their third straight series against UM. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Center fielder Seth Williams jump-started North Carolina’s offense with a pair of early run-scoring doubles, and the No. 2 Tar Heels held on for a 10-6 win over No. 1 Miami Friday at Mark Light Field. Dustin Ackley, Tim Fedroff and Kyle Seager each had three hits as Carolina (44-10, 21-7 ACC) pounded out 16 hits to even the series at a game apiece. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Freshman left-handed pitcher Chris Hernandez won for the 10th time with a seven-strikeout performance in 7 2/3 innings and junior first baseman Yonder Alonso hit his second career grand slam - which also was the second one against a team ranked No. 2 - as No. 1 Miami (43-6, 23-3 ACC) cruised to a 12-2 win over the second-ranked Tar Heels (43-10, 20-7 ACC) Thursday night to win the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division. Jemile Weeks and Dave DiNatale each added two hits for Miami, which snapped a four-game losing streak to the Tar Heels. 
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Jeremy Farrell’s two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning provided the No. 24 Virginia baseball team with the go-ahead runs in a 5-4 win over No. 2 North Carolina Sunday in a rain-shortened game at Davenport Field. Shortly after the sixth inning was completed, play was halted because of inclement weather, and just over an hour later the game was called. 
BLACKSBURG, Va. - Hokie freshman Justin Wright tied a career high with seven strikeouts while throwing a complete game to help the Virginia Tech baseball team stun top-ranked Miami on Saturday, 7-6, in the opening game of an ACC doubleheader at English Field. 
BLACKSBURG, Va. - Junior centerfielder Blake Tekotte tied a school record with three home runs and Miami hit five home runs in a game for the third time this season as the No. 1 ranked Hurricanes (40-5, 21-2 ACC) won its 40th game with a 12-4 win over Virginia Tech (20-29, 4-21 ACC) Friday evening at English Field. Yonder Alonso and Dennis Raben also both homered for Miami, which scored at least 10 runs for the 21st time this season. 
The Miami Hurricanes head north to Blacksburg VA to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in a battle between the First place team and the worst team in the conference. The Hurricanes have an overall record of 39-5 and 20-2 in the tough ACC. The Hokies have a record of 20-28 and 4-20 in the ACC. The Hurricanes have one of the most potent lineups in the entire led by Yonder Alonso and Jemile Weeks. Alonso has a batting average of .384 with 14 homers and 50 RBI in 44 games. He has an on-base percentage of .550. Jemile Weeks leads the team with a .390 average with 16 stolen bases. Chris Hernandez has been perfect in his first collegiate season as he has a 8-0 record with a 2.70 ERA. The Hokies are led by Sean O’Brien who has a batting average of .335 with six homers on the season. 
CARY, N.C. - Left fielder Kyle Shelton doubled three times and drove in two runs and third baseman Chad Flack reached the 200-RBI mark for his career to lead No. 2 North Carolina to a 9-2 win over North Florida Tuesday at Cary’s USA Baseball National Training Complex. The Tar Heels (39-8) held the Ospreys (26-21) to just four hits en route to their 14th win in the last 15 games.
