BLACKSBURG, Va. - Junior centerfielder Blake Tekotte tied a school record with three home runs and Miami hit five home runs in a game for the third time this season as the No. 1 ranked Hurricanes (40-5, 21-2 ACC) won its 40th game with a 12-4 win over Virginia Tech (20-29, 4-21 ACC) Friday evening at English Field. The Miami Hurricanes head north to Blacksburg VA to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in a battle between the First place team and the worst team in the conference. The Hurricanes have an overall record of 39-5 and 20-2 in the tough ACC. The Hokies have a record of 20-28 and 4-20 in the ACC. The Hurricanes have one of the most potent lineups in the entire led by Yonder Alonso and Jemile Weeks. Alonso has a batting average of .384 with 14 homers and 50 RBI in 44 games. He has an on-base percentage of .550. Jemile Weeks leads the team with a .390 average with 16 stolen bases. Chris Hernandez has been perfect in his first collegiate season as he has a 8-0 record with a 2.70 ERA. The Hokies are led by Sean O’Brien who has a batting average of .335 with six homers on the season. 
CARY, N.C. - Left fielder Kyle Shelton doubled three times and drove in two runs and third baseman Chad Flack reached the 200-RBI mark for his career to lead No. 2 North Carolina to a 9-2 win over North Florida Tuesday at Cary’s USA Baseball National Training Complex. The Tar Heels (39-8) held the Ospreys (26-21) to just four hits en route to their 14th win in the last 15 games. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Sophomore third baseman Mark Sobolewski tied a career-high with six RBI and senior right-hander Enrique Garcia tossed seven scoreless innings as No. 1 Miami (36-5, 20-2 ACC) shut out No. 16 Virginia, 10-0, completing a three-game series sweep of the Cavaliers (32-15, 13-11 ACC) Sunday afternoon at Mark Light Field.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Junior second baseman Jemile Weeks scored the game-winning run from third on a throwing error as No.1 Miami edged out a 4-3 extra-inning victory over No. 16 Virginia Saturday night in front of a sell-out crowd of 3,000 at Mark Light Field. Miami (35-5, 19-2 ACC) clinched its 10th straight series win this season and its first against Virginia (32-14, 13-10) since 2005 when UM took two-of-three over the Cavaliers in Charlottesville. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Freshman lefthander Chris Hernandez tied a career-high with 11 strikeouts in a career-long eight innings of work as No. 1 Miami recorded its first league shutout since 2006 with a 1-0 victory over No. 16 Virginia (32-13, 13-9 ACC) Friday night at Mark Light Field. Junior Blake Tekotte’s two-out single to right in the sixth scored freshman Joey Terdoslavich for the lone run of the ball game, giving Miami (34-5, 18-2 ACC) its 10th straight Friday night win to open the season.

On Saturday night, We had Pat Murphy of Arizona State get ejected in the fifth inning as his Sun Devils went on to lose to the Oregon State Beavers. He tried to spark his team which ended up losing the game but picked up a victory on Sunday to salvage a game from the Beavers. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.fiusports.com) – It had been four years since FIU had beaten Miami at Mark Light Field and an eternity since it beat the nation’s No. 1 team. That all changed Wednesday night with a 6-3 win for the Golden Panthers (14-29) against top-ranked Miami (33-5) in front of 2,483 on the Hurricanes’ home field.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - No. 2 North Carolina pounded out a season-high 22 hits and had five pitchers combine on a four-hit shutout in a 17-0 win over Charlotte Tuesday at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. The Tar Heels (35-7) became the first team in the nation to reach the 35-win mark and extended their season-best winning streak to 10 games with the victory. 
DALLAS - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 22, today. Louisiana-Monroe senior outfielder Dexter Fontenot was named National Hitter of the Week, while Duke’s sophomore left-hander Chris Manno was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. 
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Junior first baseman Yonder Alonso belted two home runs including his first career grand slam and junior closer Carlos Gutierrez recorded a strikeout in the bottom of the seventh to end the game as No. 1 Miami held off No. 2 Florida State, 11-10, Sunday afternoon in a game shortened due to a travel curfew. Sophomore lefty Eric Erickson returned after a month off to pick up his sixth win for the Hurricanes (33-4, 17-2 ACC) who clinched the Atlantic Coast Conference series. 
Tallahassee, Fla. - In front of a record crowd of 6.789, second-ranked Florida State (34-4, 18-2 ACC) snapped a three-game losing streak to top ranked Miami (32-4, 16-2 ACC) with a 9-5 come-from-behind victory Saturday night at Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles pounded out 14 hits in game two while the bullpen turned in a solid effort not allowing a run in five innings of work to even the series at a game a piece.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Junior second baseman Jemile Weeks collected three hits and started a 10-run sixth inning as No. 1 Miami (32-3, 16-1 ACC) rallied to knock off No. 2 Florida State, 11-4, Friday night in the first game of the Atlantic Coast Conference series in front of a Dick Howser Stadium record crowd of 6,766 fans. It was the first ever 10-run inning by the Hurricanes in the series that dates back to 1951. 
#21 Georgia Tech (27-10, 9-9 ACC) continues its road swing as it travels north to College Park to take on the Maryland Terrapins (22-17, 5-13 ACC).
