UNC Wilmington 17 Delaware 7

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Senior Jason Appel tied his career-high with four hits and senior Daniel Hargrave knocked in four runs as No. 29 UNC Wilmington fought through three weather delays to win its Colonial Athletic Association baseball series against Delaware with a 17-7 win on Sunday at Bob Hannah Stadium.

UNCW, who scored 43 runs in the series, improved to 29-8-1 overall and 18-2-1 in the CAA. The Blue Hens, meanwhile, saw their record fall to 13-24 and 6-12. Read the rest of this entry »

VMI 6 Liberty 5 (16 innings)

LYNCHBURG, Va.– A.J. Yoder’s single up the middle plated Brian Sandridge with the winning run in the 16th inning as VMI defeated Liberty 6-5 on Saturday evening in Big South Conference action at Worthington Stadium.

With the game knotted at four from the ninth inning on, the Keydets (20-18, 10-4 Big South) grabbed a 5-4 advantage in the 15th, when Sam Roberts scored on Mike Roberts’ single through the right-side of the infield. Read the rest of this entry »

PROVO, Utah - The TCU Horned Frogs erased an early 3-0 deficit with a six-run second inning and cruised to the 13-4 victory over BYU at Larry H. Miller Field Friday night. The victory ensures the Frogs the series win as they continue their hot play in the month of April. It was another offensive explosion for TCU as they scored 13 times on 15 hits. STATESBORO, Ga. – The Boston College (2-1, 0-0 ACC) baseball team dropped the final game of a three-game series to Georgia Southern (1-2, 0-0 SoCon), 18-6, Sunday afternoon at J.I. Clements Stadium. We enter the opening weekend of the College Baseball season. We will be bringing you an ACC weekend preview throughout the regular season and during the postseason will have previews of every regional. The biggest highlight of the weekend is Wake Forest heading out to Pepperdine for a three game set. We have a great preview on every ACC in our conference preview section broken off by divisions. The Florida State Seminoles have released their 2008 schedule. They will play a 56 game schedule in 2008 which opens up on February 22nd when Duquesne University visits for a four game series over three days. They will follow that up with an exhibition game against the Philadelphia Phillies. They will then travel to Auburn to take on the Tigers for two games before coming back to Tallahassee to host the Tigers for two games. The Seminoles will open ACC play on March 7th when Maryland visits Tallahassee. The Seminoles will also host ACC series against Georgia Tech, Virginia, Miami, and NC State. They will head on the road this season to face Virginia Tech, Boston College, Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Clemson. They will not play Duke in 2008 or 2009 due to the rotating ACC schedule. The 2008 ACC Baseball Championship will take place in Jacksonville Florida again. The full schedule is available in HTML and PDF formats.

The Harvard Crimson picked up a 4-0 victory over Notre Dame in Clearwater Florida on Sunday. Eric Eadington and Max Perlman combined on a five hit shutout over the perennial Big East power. Steffan Wilson hit a sacrifice fly in the third and a two run double in the fifth to drive in three out of the four runs in the game. Harvard will be back in action on Monday when they visit Tampa to end the trip. Notre Dame will be back in action on Monday with NAIA school Webber International University. Notre Dame did pick up a 14-3 victory over Duquesne before losing to the Crimson.

The A-10 Conference has released their 2007 Pre-Season Baseball Poll. They have picked Charlotte to win the title behind third baseman Aaron Bray’s potent bat. The defending champion St. Louis and URI round out the top three. It should be an interesting season in the A-10 conference like usual and the full press release on the poll is available here.
