LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Third baseman Chris Dominguez drilled a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to give the University of Louisville baseball team a 6-5 walk-off win over rival No. 17 Kentucky snapping a 22-game non-conference winning streak, in front of a regular season record crowd of 3,652 fans that packed Jim Patterson Stadium Tuesday night. BOCA RATON, Fla. - Junior first baseman Yonder Alonso blasted a two-out two-run ninth inning home run and No. 1 Miami overcame a seven-run deficit to rally past Florida Atlantic, 12-10, Wednesday night at FAU Stadium in front of 2,348 fans. CORAL GABLES, FL - Florida Atlantic right-hander Michael Obradovich struck out a season-best seven batters, allowing just three runs in eight outstanding innings and All-America candidate William Block hit two home runs in the Owls’ 6-3 win over No. 1 Miami.
Florida Atlantic (19-11) bolstered its 2008 resume with a road win over the nation’s best team. FAU is averaging 41 victories per season since 1999, during that span the Owls have qualified for NCAA Regional play six times. Read the rest of this entry »

DALLAS - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending March 25, today. Florida Atlantic senior outfielder Mike McKenna was named National Hitter of the Week, while Missouri junior right-hander Aaron Crow was named National Pitcher of the Week. South Florida 7, Florida Atlantic 6
A sacrifice fly from Brandon Smith in the bottom of the seventh inning broke a 6-6 tie as University of South Florida defeated Florida Atlantic University (7-5) 7-6 at Red McEwen Field in Tampa Tuesday night.
USF got to Florida Atlantic starter Brandon Kloess in the second inning scoring five runs on five hits. The first fout batters of the inning singled off of Kloess and a walk and hit batter. After manufacturing three runs, Freshman Ryan Lockwood stroked a single to center field with the bases loaded that plated two more runs making it a 5-0 advantage for the Bulls.

After going 2-6 in their last 8 games, the formerly Top 25 ranked Ragin’ Cajuns (4-9) looked to get back to their winning ways with a three game series against Sun Belt opponent Arkansas State (8-4).
But the Indians would have none of that as they pulled off an impressive three game sweep over Cajuns at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field in Lafayette, Louisiana this weekend.
Due to inclement weather, the teams played a doubleheader on Saturday with ASU winning 3-0 and 9-5 respectively. Read the rest of this entry »

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Boston College baseball team could only manage four hits off four different Florida Atlantic pitchers, falling 4-3, Tuesday night at FAU Stadium. The Eagles are now 5-4 on the season, while FAU improves to 6-3.
FAU threatened in the both first and second innings against BC starter Ted Ratliff (0-1). The senior right-hander was able to work around a hit and four walks in the first two frames to keep the Owls scoreless. Read the rest of this entry »

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Boston College (2-1, 0-0 ACC) baseball team dropped the final game of a three-game series to Georgia Southern (1-2, 0-0 SoCon), 18-6, Sunday afternoon at J.I. Clements Stadium. BOCA RATON, Fla. - Senior center fielder Seth Williams and sophomore left fielder Dustin Ackley hit two home runs apiece to lead No. 2 North Carolina to a 7-1 season-opening win over Florida Atlantic Friday at FAU Stadium. We enter the opening weekend of the College Baseball season. We will be bringing you an ACC weekend preview throughout the regular season and during the postseason will have previews of every regional. The biggest highlight of the weekend is Wake Forest heading out to Pepperdine for a three game set. We have a great preview on every ACC in our conference preview section broken off by divisions. The FAU Owls are finishing up the Fall season on Friday November 9th when they host a Scout Day for their final practice. The team played a three game intrasquad scrimmage where the Blue team won three straight games. They were led by assistant coach John McCormack who defeated fellow assistant coach Norberto Lopez. The North Carolina Tar Heels have released their 2008 schedule. They will be playing all home games in Cary NC as Boshamer Stadium is being renovated for the 2009 season. The Tar Heels open the season at Florida Atlantic for a three game set from February 22nd-24th. The next weekend they head to Rock Hill SC to take part in the Winthrop Tournament where they will face the hosts, Kent State, and a team to be determined. North Carolina will play a full 30 game ACC schedule which has Virginia Tech, NC State, Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Florida State all heading to Cary in conference series. UNC will visit Virginia, Clemson, Maryland, Duke, and Miami. The full schedule is available here.
