Georgetown Baseball Announces Incoming Recruiting Class
- Head Coach Pete Wilk announced that Georgetown Baseball will be welcoming eight new players to the fold this upcoming season. Billy Cosmopulous, Nick Geary, Will Harris, Alex Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Bobby Kirby, Andy Lentz and Rand Ravnaas comprise the incoming class that will try and help the Hoyas move up in the BIG EAST pecking order.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Tyler Mickits hit a two-run home run and Matt Lea, Neil Holland and Zack Pitts combined on a three-hit shutout, as the University of Louisville Cardinals blanked Morehead State 2-0 Tuesday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
After catcher Jeff Arnold reached on an infield single to lead off the fifth inning and moved to third on a throwing error, Mickits belted his first home run of the season deep to right center to put the Cards (27-16) on top 2-0 for the only scoring of the game. Read the rest of this entry »

CSTV contributor Eric Sorenson checks in with two conferences previews in the Atlantic 10 and America East. In the Atlantic 10, he lists Charlotte as the clear favorite with Richmond, Fordham, and St. Bonaventure as contenders. His darkhorse in the conference is Xavier. The full A-10 preview is available here. In America East, Eric can not decided on any clear favorite listing Albany, Binghamton, Maine and Stony Brook as contenders for the conference championship. We have three schedules to post on this cold Thursday afternoon. We found Fordham’s 2008 schedule where they are coming off a 36-21 regular season with a 19-8 record in the Atlantic 10. They lost in the A-10 Championship game to Charlotte which ended the season. Fordham will open the season at Wichita State and host Charlotte in a key A-10 series. The Marshall Thundering Herd will open the 2008 season at Western Carolina for a three game set from February 22nd-24th. The next weekend they will head down to Conway, SC to take part in the Bash at the Beach but before the first game in the tournament Marshall will play Western Carolina for the fourth straight time. The Bash at the Beach will have Marshall facing off against Coastal Carolina, West Virginia, and George Mason. The highlight on the Marshall home schedule is a visit from Rice on March 21st-23rd. Marshall
The Furman Paladins will head down to Knoxville on February 25th for a single game to open the season. They will play at Charleston Southern on February 27th. The first home series for the Paladins is March 1st and 2nd when NJIT comes to town to play two doubleheaders. The two marquee home games are on April 22nd when South Carolina visits and Tennessee on May 13th. Both of these games will take place at the Greenville Drive’s stadium. The Penn Quakers lost the final game of their Florida Trip by a score of 13-6 to Fordham. Javier Martinez pitched 6.0 innings for the Rams whilke giving up three runs on six hits to get his first victory of the season. Mike Mobbs led the Rams offense with a 3-3 game with two homers and five RBI. Penn’s Alex Nwaka had two hits for the only multiple hit game for the Quakers.

The A-10 Conference has released their 2007 Pre-Season Baseball Poll. They have picked Charlotte to win the title behind third baseman Aaron Bray’s potent bat. The defending champion St. Louis and URI round out the top three. It should be an interesting season in the A-10 conference like usual and the full press release on the poll is available here.
