(February 10, 2009) – The Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been selected as the unanimous favorite in the Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Tuesday by the conference office. Baseball America has put together previews of Division 2 and Division 3. They have Tampa as the best team in the country for Division 2. The Spartans are seeking their third title in the last four years. UC San Diego is listed as the second best team while Mount Olive who was the 2008 Division 2 champion are ranked third by Baseball America. Central Missouri and Florida Southern round out the Top 5. Baseball America has put Robbie Shields of Florida Southern as the top position player while Mike Adams of Franklin Pierce is the top pitcher. Read the rest of this entry »

Mount Olive 6 Ouachita Baptist 5

SAUGET, ILL. – Top-ranked Mount Olive used four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to rally from a 5-2 deficit against No. 4 ranked Ouachita Baptist en route to a 6-5 victory in a first round game that began Sunday night and concluded Monday morning at GCS Ballpark.

The Trojans improve to 55-6 and advance to play the winner of the Ashland and Tampa game Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., while Ouachita Baptist, playing in its first World Series, falls to 47-15, and will play the loser of that game Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in an elimination game. Read the rest of this entry »

Ouachita Baptist and Mount Olive was suspended in the seventh inning with the score tied at 2. The teams will head back on the field at 11 am tomorrow to be followed by Tampa against Ashland, Franklin Pierce and Shippensburg, with the nightcap featuring Sonoma vs Central Missouri State. Game 1: Sonoma State 10 Shippensburg 1

SAUGET, ILL., – Sonoma State pounded out 18 hits, including four home runs, en route to a 10-1 victory over Shippensburg in the first round of the NCAA Division II Championships Saturday afternoon at GCS Ballpark.

SAUGET, ILL., May 20, 2008 – The field is set and beginning on Saturday, eight teams from across the country embark on their quest for an NCAA Division II baseball national championship.

SIU Edwardsville and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, along with the village of Sauget and the Gateway Grizzlies, will co-host this year’s World Series at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois, home of the Frontier League’s Grizzlies. The College Baseball Blog took in Game 1 on Monday between Bryant University and Franklin Pierce in Rindge NH at the home of the Franklin Pierce Ravens. The game featured the Bryant Bulldogs coming through the loser’s bracket thus they had to beat Franklin Pierce in two straight games to get the spot in the NCAA Division 2 College World Series. Rindge, NH – After a string of one-run losses, the #2 Bryant Bulldogs made sure they’re elimination game with #6 C.W. Post was never close, grabbing an early lead and cruising to a 10-3 win.

Southern Connecticut 6 Pace 1

RINDGE, N.H. – Senior starting pitcher Toby Nylin (Pleasant Valley, Conn.) pitched a complete-game four-hitter and recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts on Saturday to lead the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team to a 6-1 victory over Pace in an elimination game at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Dr. Pappas Field. Freshman left fielder Andrew Babb (Hopkinton, Mass.) hit 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Owls. With the win, SCSU improves to 35-16, while Pace falls to 31-23 with the loss.
