As the Recruiting Period winds down the contact period officially end August 31st. Contact Period is permissible for authorized athletic department staff members to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations. Then the Quiet Period starts up and runs from September 1st until September 11th. Quiet Period means- permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution’s campus.
Then the Contact Period starts back up again and runs from the September 12th all the way through November 9th. Starting on November 10 is the Dead Period(not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on- or off-campus or permit official or unofficial visits.) This coincide with The Early Signing Period for College Baseball. The early signing period will be from the 12th of November to the 19th of November.

I was shocked to find out that Deadspin.com had linked to some college baseball articles on Monday. The first one revolves around Buzz Bissinger who went to the CWS in Omaha a few weeks ago. The Daily Herald out of Everett Washington has put out a very good article about college players adjusting to the wood bats in the lower levels of the minor leagues. They talk with Aaron Cunningham who played for Everett Community College and has become one of the top prospects for the Oakland A’s.
