ATLANTA - – Eighteen of the nation’s top high school baseball standouts, including three prep All-Americans, have signed National Letters of Intent to play baseball at Georgia Tech beginning next fall, head coach Danny Hall announced Wednesday.

DannyHallGT ATLANTA - Highlighted by five Atlantic Coast Conference home weekend series’, Georgia Tech baseball’s 2010 schedule as announced Wednesday by head coach Danny Hall includes 10 teams that participated in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

The Yellow Jackets open the 2010 campaign with eight games in the first 10 days, beginning with Missouri State for a three-game weekend series, Feb. 19-21, at Russ Chandler Stadium.

11-10-03 Road to Omaha The College Baseball Blog staff recently got together to start discussing the 2010 season. We have each put out our 2010 picks for the College World Series. BryceHarper Baseball America recently put out their Top 25 College Baseball and High School Prospects for the 2010 MLB Draft. The college rankings are led by Bryce Harper who has received national attention for skipping his final two years of high school to play college baseball with Community College of Southern Nevada. The rest of the top five is Anthony Ranaudo from LSU, Deck McGuire from Ga Tech, Levon Washington from Chipola JC, and Chris Sale from Florida Gulf Coast. The rest of the top 25 is available below.

ScottBoras The big story of the day is whether the Washington Nationals are going to sign San Diego State’s Stephen Strasburg by the midnight deadline tonight.  He is not the only one as number 2 selection in UNC’s Dustin Ackley is still unsigned among others. Both of these players are represented by baseball power agent Scott Boras who has become one of the toughest negotiators in the industry over the last few years. This has ended up hurting some players in their negotiations for a contract as many players have slipped down the draft board.

DukeBaseballLogo DURHAM, N.C. – Rhett Parrott, a three-year letterwinner at Georgia Tech and pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, has joined the Duke baseball staff as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Sean McNally announced.

A native of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Parrott will replace former Blue Devil outfielder and pitcher Jonathan Anderson, who served as Duke’s volunteer assistant coach from 2008-09 and recently accepted an assistant coach position at Dartmouth.
