Gotham Baseball has put out there weekend recap for Week 9. They name Vin Avella of Wagner the Beast of the Week after going 7-14 for the week. He had a strong weekend against Fairleigh Dickinson where he hit two homers with nine RBI. Our buddies over at Gotham Baseball Magazine have put out their weekly article about the Greater New York area baseball programs. The team of the week is Army after they took three out of four games against the Naval Academy over the weekend. The Beast of the week was Chris Simmons of Army who had a pair of three hit games and hit a homer in the week. Gotham Baseball has put out their Players of the Week and Weekend Recap. They have given the Beast of the Week to Jack Murphy of Princeton for going 16-30 with nine RBI for last week. The College of New Jersey pitcher Mike Oliver was named the pitcher of the week after striking out an amassing 16 batters in a seven inning game. Our good friend Chip Armonaitis of Gotham Baseball sent us a link to his Weekend Recap of the Gotham area baseball programs. There was only one major upset with Fordham beating Virginia Tech if you really want to call that an upset. We recently came across this great article from The Gotham Baseball Magazine where they mae up an All-Gotham team based on the student-athletes in the greater New York City area. The team is led by St. John’s pitcher Scott Barnes and two pitchers from Monmouth in Brad Brach and Ryan Buch.
