JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) – The second of Dave DiNatale’s two homers lifted top-seeded Miami to a 15-12 victory over Georgia Tech on Thursday night in the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
DiNatale’s ninth homer of the year, with two runners on, erased a 12-11 lead Georgia Tech had taken into the top of the ninth. Jemile Weeks added an insurance run with an RBI single later in the inning. Read the rest of this entry »

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Georgia Tech scored eight runs over the last three innings, including two runs without the benefit of a base hit in the top of the ninth, for a wild and entertaining 10-9 win over NC State in the opening game of the 2008 ACC Baseball Tournament at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. 
The ACC Tourney starts up tomorrow with the league split into two pools with four teams in each one. Pool A has Miami (FL), Clemson, NC State, and Ga Tech in it while Pool B has FSU, Wake Forest, UNC, and Virginia. I believe that Miami (FL) will meet UNC in the Finals. 
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami, the top seed in this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship, led all schools with eight selections on the 2008 All-ACC Baseball Team and also claimed a pair of individual superlatives, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. The honors are selected by a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches. 
GREENSBORO, N.C. – A pair of league schools from the Sunshine State highlight the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship field, as No. 1 seed Miami and No. 2 seed Florida State prepare to battle with six other schools for the coveted championship crown at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla., this week.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Tim Federowicz went 2-for-5 with three RBI and then recorded the game-ending strikeout with the tying run on third base to lift No. 2 North Carolina to a 12-11 win over No. 1 Miami and a series victory Saturday at Mark Light Field. Behind a home run and five RBI from Tim Fedroff and four hits and two RBI from Kyle Shelton, the Tar Heels (45-10, 22-7 ACC) built an eight-run lead through five innings and held off a late rally by the Hurricanes (43-8, 23-5) to win their third straight series against UM. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Center fielder Seth Williams jump-started North Carolina’s offense with a pair of early run-scoring doubles, and the No. 2 Tar Heels held on for a 10-6 win over No. 1 Miami Friday at Mark Light Field. Dustin Ackley, Tim Fedroff and Kyle Seager each had three hits as Carolina (44-10, 21-7 ACC) pounded out 16 hits to even the series at a game apiece. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman left-handed pitcher Chris Hernandez won for the 10th time with a seven-strikeout performance in 7 2/3 innings and junior first baseman Yonder Alonso hit his second career grand slam – which also was the second one against a team ranked No. 2 – as No. 1 Miami (43-6, 23-3 ACC) cruised to a 12-2 win over the second-ranked Tar Heels (43-10, 20-7 ACC) Thursday night to win the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division. Jemile Weeks and Dave DiNatale each added two hits for Miami, which snapped a four-game losing streak to the Tar Heels. 
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Jeremy Farrell’s two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning provided the No. 24 Virginia baseball team with the go-ahead runs in a 5-4 win over No. 2 North Carolina Sunday in a rain-shortened game at Davenport Field. Shortly after the sixth inning was completed, play was halted because of inclement weather, and just over an hour later the game was called. 
BLACKSBURG, Va. – Hokie freshman Justin Wright tied a career high with seven strikeouts while throwing a complete game to help the Virginia Tech baseball team stun top-ranked Miami on Saturday, 7-6, in the opening game of an ACC doubleheader at English Field. 
BLACKSBURG, Va. – Junior centerfielder Blake Tekotte tied a school record with three home runs and Miami hit five home runs in a game for the third time this season as the No. 1 ranked Hurricanes (40-5, 21-2 ACC) won its 40th game with a 12-4 win over Virginia Tech (20-29, 4-21 ACC) Friday evening at English Field. Yonder Alonso and Dennis Raben also both homered for Miami, which scored at least 10 runs for the 21st time this season.
