Miami (FL) at Virginia Tech
The Miami Hurricanes head north to Blacksburg VA to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in a battle between the First place team and the worst team in the conference. The Hurricanes have an overall record of 39-5 and 20-2 in the tough ACC. The Hokies have a record of 20-28 and 4-20 in the ACC. The Hurricanes have one of the most potent lineups in the entire led by Yonder Alonso and Jemile Weeks. Alonso has a batting average of .384 with 14 homers and 50 RBI in 44 games. He has an on-base percentage of .550. Jemile Weeks leads the team with a .390 average with 16 stolen bases. Chris Hernandez has been perfect in his first collegiate season as he has a 8-0 record with a 2.70 ERA. ATHENS, Ga. — Freshman Deck McGuire pitched 7 strong innings for the Yellow Jackets, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 9, to help Georgia Tech (34-14) to an 11-1 road victory over in-state rival Georgia (31-16-1). McGuire improved his record to 8-0 on the season as the Yellow Jackets remain undefeated in midweek games.
CARY, N.C. – Dustin Ackley and Tim Fedroff each drove in three runs to lead No. 2 North Carolina to an 11-5 come-from-behind win over North Florida and its 40th victory of the season Wednesday at Cary’s USA Baseball National Training Complex. At 40-8 through 48 games, this year’s Tar Heels have matched the 2006 squad as the quickest in school history to 40 wins. 
ATLANTA – Derek Dietrich collected three hits and drove in five runs to lead Georgia Tech (33-14) to an 11-4 victory over No. 15 Coastal Carolina (38-11) Sunday afternoon at Russ Chandler Stadium. The win helped Tech to its second-straight weekend series victory after defeating Wake Forest in two of three games a week ago.

ATLANTA, Ga. — Despite having the week off for final exams, the Yellow Jackets (32-13) were able to continue their hot hitting in a 10-6 victory over Coastal Carolina (36-10). Thomas Nichols, Charlie Blackmon, Jeff Rowland, and Jason Haniger each hit a home run off Coastal Carolina starter Bobby Gagg. Haniger, who led the team with 3 RBI, later hit a clutch 8th inning 2-run single to seal the victory for Georgia Tech.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Junior second baseman Jemile Weeks set a new school record with his 18th career triple and freshman lefty Chris Hernandez won for the eighth time as No. 1 Miami won its 11th straight Friday night game with a 10-2 win over St. Mary’s (Calif.) in the first of a three game nonconference series at Mark Light Field. Weeks, Yonder Alonso, Dennis Raben and Adan Severino combined to go 9-for-14 with six RBI and eight runs scored as Miami (37-5) scored at least 10 runs for the 19th time season. 
The Florida State Seminoles head to Clemson SC for a Saturday-Monday series against the Clemson Tigers. The Seminoles enter with a 37-7 overall record while being 19-5 in the ACC. The Seminoles have been one of the better hitting teams in the country with a team batting average of .346. All-American catcher candidate Buster Posey is the top hitter on the team with a .470 average and a team leading 13 homers on the year. Matt Fairel has been the ace of the staff with an 8-1 record with a 2.81 ERA. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Sophomore third baseman Mark Sobolewski tied a career-high with six RBI and senior right-hander Enrique Garcia tossed seven scoreless innings as No. 1 Miami (36-5, 20-2 ACC) shut out No. 16 Virginia, 10-0, completing a three-game series sweep of the Cavaliers (32-15, 13-11 ACC) Sunday afternoon at Mark Light Field.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Junior second baseman Jemile Weeks scored the game-winning run from third on a throwing error as No.1 Miami edged out a 4-3 extra-inning victory over No. 16 Virginia Saturday night in front of a sell-out crowd of 3,000 at Mark Light Field. Miami (35-5, 19-2 ACC) clinched its 10th straight series win this season and its first against Virginia (32-14, 13-10) since 2005 when UM took two-of-three over the Cavaliers in Charlottesville. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman lefthander Chris Hernandez tied a career-high with 11 strikeouts in a career-long eight innings of work as No. 1 Miami recorded its first league shutout since 2006 with a 1-0 victory over No. 16 Virginia (32-13, 13-9 ACC) Friday night at Mark Light Field. Junior Blake Tekotte’s two-out single to right in the sixth scored freshman Joey Terdoslavich for the lone run of the ball game, giving Miami (34-5, 18-2 ACC) its 10th straight Friday night win to open the season.
