The Lone Star Showdown this weekend between Texas and Texas A&M will heavily impact the Big 12 conference race. Texas currently leads Kansas State and rival Texas A&M by one game in the conference standings. The two teams will be playing a split series, with the Friday game in College Station and the two remaining games in Austin. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State face off in the Bedlam Series, with Friday’s game to be played at Driller’s Stadium in Tulsa and the other two games at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 8 Texas Longhorns put on their hitting shoes and posted a 19-11 win over the No. 17 Baylor Bears in Big 12 Conference baseball action Saturday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark.
The game featured season-highs for hits (16), runs (19), total bases (27) and home runs (3) as the Longhorns moved to 32-11-1 on the season and 14-8-1 in Big 12 Conference play. The win put the Horns back in first place in the league standings.

AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 8 Texas Longhorns took advantage of a season-high seven errors by the No. 17 Baylor Bears to post a 12-4 win in Big 12 Conference baseball action Friday evening at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Texas (31-11-1, 13-8-1 Big 12) equaled a season-high with 12 runs, including six unearned, and logged 13 hits on the evening.

AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 8 Texas Longhorns demonstrated their offensive firepower with a season-high runs total to defeat the Texas State Bobcats, 12-2, in non-conference baseball action Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk field.
The Longhorns were led offensively by freshman Kevin Lusson who went 4-for-4 and with a walk on the night and scored five runs. Lusson had two doubles and two RBI. All of these numbers were career-highs for the Austin native.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – On Saturday at Gary Hogan Field, the HBU baseball team lost the first game of a double-header with the University of Arkansas-Little Rock by a score of 5-4 before bouncing back to win game two, 5-2.
Game one remained scoreless until the bottom half of the fourth. The Trojans got a leadoff double, followed by a groundout, a walk and a RBI groundout. With two outs and one man on, UALR got two more hits, drew three walks and HBU pitchers threw three wild pitches that allowed the Trojans to plate four more runs and take a 5-0 lead.

Share North Dakota head coach Jeff Dodson is transitioning Fighting Sioux baseball from Division II to Division I.
North Dakota head coach Jeff Dodson was hired on June 20, 2008 to transition the University of North Dakota to Division I baseball after the school had spent the previous fifty years competing at the Division II level. Coach Dodson spent the previous five seasons as an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State, where he was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. The College Baseball Blog had the opportunity to talk with Coach Dodson and ask him about the specific challenges he faces as a first time head coach and with the transition process, the 2009 baseball team and staff, and the future of Fighting Sioux baseball. SAN ANTONIO – It was a day for records at Roadrunner Field on Monday, as senior All-American Michael Rockett went 3-for-4 to become the Southland Conference’s all-time hit king, junior closer Zach Calhoon saved the 24th game of his career also a new league standard and UTSA held on for a 4-3 victory against Dallas Baptist.

HOUSTON, Texas – Robbie Buller’s bases loaded, one out double in the bottom of the ninth pushed two runs across to give the HBU baseball team a 12-11 victory for a four-game sweep of Northern Colorado on Saturday afternoon at Husky Field.
The scoring started early, with Northern Colorado pushing a single run across with a leadoff single, a stolen base and a double. HBU quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning as Nick Homan led things off with a single. Two outs later, Andrew Taccolini drove his fifth home run of the season over the left field wall to put the Huskies ahead, 2-1.
