IOWA IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa Head Baseball Coach Jack Dahm announced that Zach Dillon will serve as the team’s volunteer coach. Dillon, a native of Urbandale, IA, attended Baylor University and was subsequently selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 20th Round (595th overall) of the 2006 amateur entry draft as a catcher. His honors include 2005 ABCA second team all-Midwest Region selection, 2005 first team all-Big 12 Conference honoree and a nine time Big 12 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient. Dillon will work with the catchers, assist with hitters and take over as camp coordinator.

IowaBaseball The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes several new faces this fall including Mike Corbeil, Kevin Gates and Kurt Lee.

Corbeil, a Chesterfield, MO, native, is an incoming freshman infielder. He was a two-time all-state, all-district and all-conference selection his two years on the Marquette High School varsity squad. Corbeil’s senior season he hit .453 with four home runs and 37 RBI. In his career at Marquette he set the career RBI record, with 54. Corbeil was part of the 2008 Suburban West Conference Championship team and partook in the Junior Sunbelt Games.

PETERSBURG, FL – The schedule has been finalized and two state‐of‐the‐art major league venues have been added to the 2010 Big Ten/BIG EAST Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, event manager API Sports announced today. Doubleheaders at Dunedin Stadium and Bright House Field highlight a slate that features 30 games over three days, Feb. 26‐28, 2010, at current and former big league facilities in the St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Fla., area.

PETERSBURG, FL – Following an inaugural event in which nearly 17,000 spectators attended games in a three-day period, the second Big Ten/BIG EAST Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, has been confirmed for the weekend of Feb. 26-28, 2010. Toole led the Hawkeyes to four wins last week, scoring nine runs while driving in nine and raising his batting average 51 points to a team-leading .353 mark. The senior tallied four multi-hit games in six contests and racked up four extra-base hits, including a double and a homer in Iowa’s 25-6 rout over Tennessee-Martin on Wednesday. PETERSBURG, FL – Due to the recent unavailability of Progress Energy Park, the schedule for the inaugural BIG EAST-Big Ten Baseball Challenge has been adjusted to include games at McKechnie Field in Bradenton and Red McEwen Field at the University of South Florida. The BIG EAST-Big Ten Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, begins on Friday, Feb. 20.

2008 overall record 22-33, Big Ten record 10-22, 10th.

If head coach Jack Dahm had his way, coming off of a 4th place conference finish in 2007, 2008 would have been the year his Iowa Hawkeyes showed they have what it takes to be an elite champion contender team. CHICAGO – The Big Ten Network will nationally televise up to 30 Big Ten baseball games, including the entire Big Ten Baseball Tournament, and 25 Big Ten softball games this spring. Every game will be produced in high definition.
