SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Junior All-American Josh Romanski threw his first collegiate no-hitter to help guide the 14th-ranked University of San Diego baseball team to a 12-0 win over Harvard University Monday afternoon at USD’s Cunningham Stadium.Romanski (4-0) faced one above the minimum in the game as he retired the first 13 batters he faced, before he hit Harvard’s Matt Kramer in the top of the fifth inning. Romanski then retired the remaining 14 batters, while posting a season-high eight strikeouts in the win. The Crimson nearly broke up the no-hitter in the seventh inning on a well hit ball to the left side, but shortstop Sean Nicol dove on the ball to knock it down, then popped up and just made the throw in time to preserve the no-hitter. Asheville, NC – In a pair of games that took 6 hours and 41 minutes to complete, the Brown baseball team maintained its .500 record, moving to 5-5 in a split with UNC Asheville (11-13) at Greenwood Field on Sunday. KINGSTON, RI (3/22/08) – Temple scored seven runs in the fourth inning and won for the fourth straight game with a 9-6 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday at Bill Beck Field. Junior Kyle Obal (Derwood, MD / Sherwood) had four hits and two RBI, while freshman Byron McKoy (Charlotte, NC / Independence) was a triple away from the cycle and had three hits. Junior Matt Mongiardini (Toms River, NJ / Toms River East) improved to 4-0 with six innings on the mound and senior Arshwin Asjes (Willemstad, Curacao / Cheverus-ME) pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save. TAMPA, Fla. — Sophomore Chase Anderson struck out six batters and junior Trey Sperring had three RBIs in Oklahoma’s 6-1 victory on Tuesday over South Florida at Red McEwen field. The win improved the Sooners’ overall record to 16-5 while the Bulls fell to 10-7.
In his fourth start of the year, Anderson delivered his best outing as a Sooner, striking out a season-high six batters. Anderson (2-1), who struggled in his last start allowing four runs in 1 1/3 innings against Washington State, limited the Bulls’ offense on Tuesday to one run off five hits and two walks. Bradenton, Fla. - Harvard and Lafayette split a Sunday doubleheader in games played at Manatee Community College. The Crimson, backed by a strong pitching performance, took game one by a score of 4-1 before the Leopards jumped out to a big lead in a 13-2 victory in the second game.
In the first game, Lafayette (6-4) jumped on top with a single run in the bottom of the second. Tom Ambrosole singled to left with one out and scored on a triple down the left field line by Justin Shepard when Harvard’s (1-6) relay throw to home hit Ambrosole in the back 25 feet from home plate. The Georgia Southern Eagles set an NCAA Record by hitting 14 homers yesterday against Columbia. Chris Shehan and Griffin Benedict each homered twice for GA Southern who had 12 different players homer in the 26-8 victory over Columbia. The full game recap is available here.

For the second time in a week, an Ivy League program defeated an SEC team this time the Yale Bulldogs went down to Columbia SC and defeated the number 4 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks. The Bulldogs used four pitchers in the game while allowing South Carolina to only five hits. Yale starter Stefan Schropp pitched the first five innings of the game allowing only three hits and one run. The Brown University Bears knocked off Florida in Game 1 of their doubleheader by a score of 11-2. The Bears got a strong pitching performance from Will Weidig went eight strong innings while scattering five hits and allowing two runs to lead them to victory.
