East Texas Pump Jacks pitcher Justin Murray is now an ex-Pump Jack.
Murray has signed with the Oakland A’s, becoming the first Pump Jacks player to turn pro in the organization’s history. The A’s drafted Murray in the 29th round of Major League’s Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft last month following his junior season at Kansas State.
The righthander had made five starts since joining East Texas a few weeks into the season, going 0-1 with a 4.45 ERA. Murray was third on the staff with 30.1 innings pitched and had allowed 28 hits for an impressive .237 opponents’ batting average. He struck out 27 and walked just five.

Playing for the Fayetteville (N.C.) Swap Dogs, sophomores-to-be Carter Jurica and Jason King continue to rank among the team’s leading hitters… Jurica went 5-for-15 to improve his season average to .235 with four doubles and 14 RBI… He is also 8-for-10 in stolen base attempts… Against Florence on Sunday, Jurica was 2-for-3 with one walk and one run scored… King was 4-for-14 last week with one RBI and two runs scored… King’s average improved for the second-straight week as he is now the team’s second-leading hitter… On the season, the third baseman is hitting .269 with six doubles, two triples, one home run and 12 RBI… Against Thomasville on Friday, King drove in the Swap Dogs’ lone run in an 8-1 loss… The Swap Dogs, who finished the first half of the season second in the south division, are in fifth during the second half with a 7-13 record.

Swap Dogs, sophomore-to-be Jason King went 6-for-23 last week to raise his average… King’s best game came on Thursday in an 8-4 victory against Martinsville as he went 3-for-4 with one run scored and two RBI… King’s average now sits at .257 with six doubles, two triples, one home run and 10 RBI… Another future sophomore, Carter Jurica, went 1-for-17 last week, lowering his season average to .219 with three doubles and 14 RBI… His lone hit of the week also came against Martinsville on Thursday… The Swap Dogs, who finished the first half of the season in second place in the south division, is off to a 4-5 start to the second half.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The No. 24 Texas Longhorns logged 19 hits to post a 15-7 win over the Kansas State Wildcats in the title game of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
It was the third league tournament crown for Texas who also won the prize in 2002 and 2003.
Brandon Belt was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship Most Outstanding Player. He went .588 (10-of-17) with five runs, two doubles, one home run and 10 RBI in four games.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Sophomore David Hernandez chipped an 0-2 offering for an RBI single to cap a three-run rally and lead the Texas Longhorns to a come-from-behind 11-10 win over the Oklahoma Sooners in Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship baseball action at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark Saturday morning
With Texas trailing 10-8 in the bottom of the ninth, Jordan Danks and Kyle Russell drew walks from Jake McCarter to leadoff the frame. Chase Anderson came in to pitch for the Sooners and induced a pop up on a bunt attempt by Russell Moldenhauer for the first out. Brandon Belt reignited the rally with a single to rightfield, plating Danks and trimming the lead to 10-9. Preston Clark struck out looking to bring Hernandez to the plate with two outs. Hernandez swung at strike two in the dirt, but a wild pitch allowed Russell to score from third and put Belt in scoring position. Baylor Knocks off Nebraska 10-4
Shaver Hansen was 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI, including a key three-run triple in Baylor’s four-run seventh as the Bears knocked off 12th-ranked Nebraska 10-4 in first-day action at the Big 12 Conference Championship at Bricktown Ballpark. The sixth-seeded Bears (32-24) became the first team to win five consecutive pool-play games at the Big 12 Championship, dating back to the 2006 season. IRVING, Texas — José Duran (Texas A&M) and Aaron Crow (Missouri) headline the 2008 All-Big 12 Baseball Awards as Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, it was announced on Tuesday. Duran, a Fort Worth native, was also named Newcomer of the Year while Aggie mentor Rob Childress was tabbed Coach of Year. Rounding out the selections is Chance Ruffin (Texas), who earned Freshman of the Year.
The All-Big 12 awards are selected by the league’s head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.

IRVING, Texas — Texas A&M earned its third Big 12 regular season title on Sunday. The defending postseason champion will be the top seed in the 2008 Phil lips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship, which is scheduled for May 21-25 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City . It marks the 10th time the championship has been played at this venue.

The Big 12 race is coming down to the last day. A&M is sitting on top with a league record 19-7 while OSU is in 2nd with a 18-8 record and Nebraska is in 3rd with a 17-8 record. All A&M has to do is to win 1 Game but standing in their way is their arch rival Texas. Texas has come out and took the first two games by identical score of 5-2. Texas has gotten timely hitting to go along with great defense and pitching. in Yesterdays game Austin Wood pitched his first career complete game. Texas has shown that they are getting their pieces of the puzzle together just in time for tournament time.
Oklahoma State has taken the first two games from OU and is sitting in 2nd place needing a lost by A&M and to win on Sunday. OSU has the tie breaker over A&M and will be the #1 seed come Tournament time.
Nebraska went to the weekend series needing A&M to lose 2 games and to take care of Business against the Tigers of Missouri. Missouri came out swinging in game 1 and in game 2 to the score of 8-1 and 22-9.
The 4th and 5th place have been determine with Missouri the 4th seed and Texas the 5th seed. The top 3 and the bottom half of the conference will be worked out today.
The BIG 12 tournament will start on Wednesday from the Bricktown in Oklahoma City.

IRVING, Texas — The Big 12 Conference has named 62 student-athletes to the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team, the league office announced.
Nebraska led the conference with nine selections — seven on the first team and two on the second.
Individually, Brett Scott ( Kansas State ) received special recognition for posting a 4.00 grade point average.
Nominated by each institution’s director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the baseball academic all-league team consisted of 46 first team members combined with 16 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
