EASTON, Pa. - Joe Ezekiel, currently playing for the Leesburg Lightning of the Florida Collegiate Summer League (FCSL), won the league’s Home Run Derby at the July 20 All-Star Game in Sanford, Fla.

Ezekiel hit a combined 13 homers to defeat the Diamond Dawgs’ Steve Sabins. He hit six home runs in first round to tie for the lead and went on to defeat Sabins 7-4 in the head-to-head final round.

NEWARK, DE – Thirteen Blue Hens recorded at least one hit and five cracked home runs as the University of Delaware baseball team stormed past Temple, 22-4, at Bob Hannah Stadium on a warm Wednesday afternoon.

Center Valley, Pa. - After earning the top seed in this weekend’s Patriot League Tournament, Army reaped the benefits of its stellar season by leading all teams with eight selections on the 2008 Patriot League Baseball All-League Team. The team was voted on by the League’s six head coaches, who could not vote for their own student-athletes.

The Black Knights placed three players on the first team, while five garnered second-team honors. Bucknell followed Army with seven selections, while Navy had six picks overall and a League-high five student-athletes that received first-team honors. WEST POINT, N.Y. – Cole White scattered six hits in the opener, and Matt Fouch and Kirk Porter combined on a three-hitter in the nightcap as Army regained a share of first place in the Patriot League standings by posting a pair of shutout victories against Lehigh, Sunday afternoon at Doubleday Field.

The Black Knights won the first game 5-0 behind the stellar pitching of White, then rode the dominant performances of Fouch and Porter to a 6-0 victory in the second game. The CBB made the trip to Worcester MA to watch the second doubleheader between Lafayette and Holy Cross on April 20th. The Crusaders entered the double dip in sole possession of first place in the Patriot League with a one game lead. In Game 1, The Crusaders sent senior left handed pitcher Matt O’Brien for his final scheduled start at Fitton Field as he took on freshman Zach Fritz. Both pitchers were largely ineffective throughout with Fritz lasting only 3.2 innings while giving up all three Crusader runs on three hits and four walks. Read the rest of this entry »

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell baseball squad rode clutch performances by senior Mathew Wilson (Toronto, Ontario/Northern S.S.) and sophomore Ben Yoder (Belleville, Pa./Indian Valley) to a doubleheader sweep of Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon on Depew Field. Wilson fanned 11 batters in a complete game shutout effort as the Bison defeated the Crusaders, 3-0, in game one, while Yoder registered a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth in game two, leading the Orange and Blue to a 7-6 victory in that contest. WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Bucknell baseball team finished off its series with Army on Sunday with a sweep of the second doubleheader of the weekend. The Bison took game one, 8-5, and rode a solid pitching performance by freshman Dylan Seeley (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) to a 3-1 victory in game two. With the pair of wins, the Bison are now 13-10-2 on the season, 3-1 in the Patriot League, while the Black Knights fall to 6-16 and 1-3.
