Lynchburg, Va. – The Liberty baseball team will play 25 games against teams which won 30 or more games last season, highlighting the Flames’ 2010 schedule, released today.

The Flames are scheduled to meet George Mason, Elon, Kennesaw State, Duke, Virginia Tech, UNC Wilmington, James Madison, St. John’s, Manhattan, along with Big South members Coastal Carolina and Winthrop, all winners of 30-plus games from a year ago.

JasonMurrayLiberty Lynchburg, Va. – Liberty Head Baseball Coach Jim Toman has announced the hiring of Jason Murray as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. 

Murray replaces former Liberty coach Nick Schnabel, who accepted a similar position at East Carolina earlier this month.  Murray will serve as the team’s infield coach and assist with the hitters.

“We are delighted that we were able to hire someone with Jason’s experience,” said Toman.  “Not only has Jason worked with several outstanding coaches, but he has also been a head coach in the Big South Conference and was recently the recruiting coordinator at Michigan.  As a strong Christian, Jason is a perfect fit for Liberty, and we are extremely excited to have him and his wife, Mindy, join the Liberty family.”

billcilentoWake Forest new head coach Tom Walter has announced that he has hired Bill Cilento as an assistant coach. He comes over from Brown University where he spent the last three seasons. He brought the Brown Bears to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 where they led the Ivy League in every offensive category including winning the team batting average title by 39 points. (Victoria, Texas) The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League have announced that a local pitcher and an outfielder from Uvalde will joining the team for the summers’ schedule.

Logan Hull, a junior at Texas Lutheran University and graduate of Memorial High School in Victoria has agreed to pitch for the Generals in their inaugural season. At Texas Lutheran he entered the spring as the No. 1 starter. He is a former ASC West Preseason Pitcher of the Year (2008)
