MONROE, La. – The ULM baseball team kicked off its annual Hackers Classic week with the release of the rosters for the Maroon & Gold Blood Series on Saturday. The teams play a best-of-five series beginning Monday evening with the losing team of the series donating blood to an area blood bank.
The teams will play at 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the final game of the series scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m. All five games will be played even if the series has already been decided.

MONROE, La.—Coming off its best back-to-back seasons since 2000 and 2001, the ULM baseball team has begun its preparations for the 2010 season as the Warhawks are a week into fall practice.
“Things are going well so far,” head coach Jeff Schexnaider said. “We have a great group of seniors who are leading by example on the field. We are excited about the new guys that have come in this season. Not only are they talented baseball players, but they are also extremely hard workers. We have a lot of depth this season, which has provided competition at a lot of positions.”

MONROE, La.- Three games against 2009 College World Series teams, a regular season-ending series with rival Louisiana-Lafayette and in-state matchups against LSU and Tulane highlight the 2010 ULM baseball schedule released Thursday by Warhawk head coach Jeff Schexnaider.
"I feel that we have a great schedule that our fans will enjoy and that will help our team reach a Regional," Schexnaider said. "With 15 games against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season, the schedule provides us with the challenges we need to accomplish our goals."

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference recognized its top performers on the baseball field with the announcement of the 2009 All-Conference teams on Tuesday. The student-athletes selected to the first and second teams, as voted on by the 11 head coaches, were honored for their consistent play throughout the season, posting impressive numbers all year.

Share Weekend Winners: Middle Tennessee State was the big weekend winner, as they swept a three game home series with Missouri State. Also posting impressive weekends were UALR, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Louisiana-Monroe, New Orleans, Troy, and Western Kentucky. UALR took two of three games at home against Northern Iowa, and just missed a sweep with a one run loss on Saturday. Florida Atlantic finished the weekend with a 2-1 series record against Fordham. Florida International posted a 20 run Saturday in route to a two games to one series victory over Jacksonville. Louisiana-Monroe hosted the ULM and ended the weekend with a 2-1 record. New Orleans won the first three games of their home series against Towson before losing the Sunday finale to open the season 3-1. Troy lost a Friday contest against Kentucky in the Caravelle Resort Invitational before winning their next three games to end the tournament at a very solid 3-1. Western Kentucky took a single game from Toledo on Friday night, but the Saturday and Sunday meetings were canceled due to inclement weather. Read the rest of this entry »
