Johnson led the Illini to a series victory over No. 1 LSU over the weekend, batting .500 with a .750 slugging percentage over the three-game set. In Game 1 on Friday, the catcher hit the game-winning two-run home run in the top of the ninth to give Illinois the 3-1 victory. Share The Big Ten will open the 2009 baseball season at the Big East-Big Ten Challenge on Feb. 20.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Due to the recent unavailability of Progress Energy Park, the schedule for the inaugural BIG EAST-Big Ten Baseball Challenge has been adjusted to include games at McKechnie Field in Bradenton and Red McEwen Field at the University of South Florida. The BIG EAST-Big Ten Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, begins on Friday, Feb. 20.

CHICAGO – The Big Ten Network will nationally televise up to 30 Big Ten baseball games, including the entire Big Ten Baseball Tournament, and 25 Big Ten softball games this spring. Every game will be produced in high definition.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The home and away team designations for the inaugural BIG EAST-Big TEN Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, have been determined by the participating conference offices, it was announced today. Rivals.com College Baseball Editor Kendall Rogers put out a great article previewing the Top 10 Seniors for the 2009 season. He names your typical players like Michael Rockett of Texas-San Antonio and Preston Guilmet of Arizona. He also brings up Nate Lape of Marshall who flies under the radar as he plays for the West Virginia based school. The biggest name on his list is Ole Miss’ pitcher Scott Bittle who appeared in 27 games with a ERA of 1.78. He held opponents to a .145 batting average against. The rest of the list includes: Luke Anders of Texas A&M, Cory Harrilchak of Elon, Chris Fetter of Michigan, Chris Rusin of Kentucky, Ben Orloff of UC Irvine and Ben Soignier of Louisiana-Monroe. ANN ARBOR, Mich. — University of Michigan head baseball coach Rich Maloney has announced the addition of Brant Ust to his coaching staff as a volunteer assistant. Ust, who was the Big East Player of the Year and an All-American in 1998 at Notre Dame, replaces Aaron Hepner on Maloney’s staff. Hepner took an assistant coaching position at Eastern Michigan (Dec. 4).

Share With today being November 12th, We enter the first step for potential college baseball athletes in deciding on where they will play for the next 3-4 years. The next step will be to see where they get drafted in the MLB Draft in June and the final step will be to see if they make it to campus in September.

Georgia Tech have signed three prep standouts to NLI’s
Two prep All-Americans highlight a list of three high school standouts that have already signed National Letters of Intent to play baseball at Georgia Tech beginning next fall, head coach Danny Hall announced Wednesday.

Longhorns announce fall Baseball schedule
Texas hosts games against Rice (10/19) and Texas State (11/02) and travels to Baylor (10/12) and Rice (10/26).
he Texas Longhorns will play four fall baseball games this season, including a pair at The Dell Diamond in nearby Round Rock, the team announced on Thursday.
The Longhorns host Rice on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m. and Texas State on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 12 p.m.
