Share The College Baseball Blog staff recently got together to start discussing the 2010 season. We have each put out our 2010 picks for the College World Series. The most popular selection is Texas showing up on all six ballots with LSU, Cal-State Fullerton, and Virginia showing up on five of them. ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The schedule has been finalized and two state‐of‐the‐art major league venues have been added to the 2010 Big Ten/BIG EAST Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, event manager API Sports announced today. Doubleheaders at Dunedin Stadium and Bright House Field highlight a slate that features 30 games over three days, Feb. 26‐28, 2010, at current and former big league facilities in the St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Fla., area.

Share The Star Tribune reports that the Minnesota Gophers will play the 2010 college baseball season in its entirety at the Metrodome. The reason behind this is the fact that a new baseball stadium is being built on the Minnesota campus. The Gophers will have full use of the Metrodome as the Minnesota Twins move to a new outdoor stadium next season.

UNCW Summer Baseball Update – July 24
Cody Stanley (Cotuit) – Stanley represented UNCW and Cotuit at the Cape Cod All-Star game on July 23 and finished the rain-shortened contest 0-2 and caught the first four innings of the game. Stanley knocked in the second run of the game for the West team with a ground out. He’s hitting .296 with 13 runs scored in the pitching dominated summer league.

PETERSBURG, FL – Following an inaugural event in which nearly 17,000 spectators attended games in a three-day period, the second Big Ten/BIG EAST Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, has been confirmed for the weekend of Feb. 26-28, 2010. MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A total of 37 standout freshmen college baseball players from every part of the country are featured on the annual Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-American Team, the organization announced today.
The 2009 Pro-Line Athletic NCBWA Freshman All-American Team is comprised from 17 conferences and 10 conference championship teams. The two All-American squads are also made up of 12 conference “Rookie of the Year” winners.
