AaronMeade The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 93 in our countdown with Missouri State junior LHP Aaron Meade. He is a 6’2 175 pound left-handed pitcher out of Rockhurst High School and Kansas City, Missouri. His senior season saw him go 4-2 with a 2.25 ERA and win Rockhurst High School’s Pitcher of the Year award.

MissouriStateBaseball The 2010 Missouri State baseball schedule has been completed and includes a total of 55 games as the Bears move into their seventh season at Hammons Field. The schedule features 25 home dates and 30 road games, 22 games against teams that qualified for the 2009 NCAA Tournament and four versus 2009 College World Series participants.

The Cape Cod Baseball League has put out their 2009 All-Cape League team. It is led by CCBL MVP Kyle Roller from East Carolina and CCBL Top Pitcher Chris Sale from Florida Gulf Coast. The infield features first baseman Mickey Wiswall (Boston College), second baseman Pierre LePage (Uconn), shortstop B.A. Vollmuth (Southern Miss) and third baseman Jedd Gyorko (West Virginia). The two ultility infielders are Zach Cox (Arkansas) and Nick Crawford (UAB). The outfield is led by Todd Cunningham (Jacksonville State). The other four members of the All-League outfield are Gary Brown (CS-Fullerton), Austin Wates (Virginia Tech), Brian Fletcher (Auburn), and George Springer (UConn). The catchers are Mike Murray (Wake Forest) and Cody Stanley (UNC-Wilmington). Ryan Cuneo (Delaware) joins Roller as the All-League Designated Hitters.

COCA COLA PITCHER OF THE WEEK 

PP8_AaronMeade Aaron Meade, Harwich LHP

The final Coca-Cola Pitcher of the Week of the 2009 Cape Cod Baseball League regular season is Harwich starter Aaron Meade (Missouri State). Meade won his only start of the week, a seven-inning gem against Chatham. Meade did not allow a run and struck out five over the course of the performance, while scattering only four hits.

wmbl The Okotoks Dawgs swept their series against the Moose Jaw Miller Express, 2-1, 10-5, and 5-4. Jeff Duda (Campbellsville) pitched a four-hit complete game in the first game, struck out 11. The Dawgs trailed 1-0 going into the seventh inning, but they tied it in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Mac Sullivan (USC), and won it on the eighth on an RBI double by Jeremy Shelby (Grambling State). In the third game, Manny Kumar (Grambling State) scored the winning run on a passed ball. The Dawgs will play the Medicine Hat Mavericks in the semifinal playoff round; the series starts Thursday, August 6 at Okotoks.

State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week:
Brayden Drake, Missouri State, 3B, Sr., Webb City, Mo. (Webb City)

Senior Brayden Drake extended his school record hitting streak to 29 games after hitting .611 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in five Missouri State victories. Drake added two doubles for a 1.222 slugging percentage, reached base two-thirds of the time and scored seven runs. He had multiple RBIs in all five games and at least two hits in four contests. Missouri 5 at #6 Arizona State 2

Missouri concluded its nine-game road trip to open the 2009 season by picking up a 5-2 win over Arizona State on Sunday in Tempe, Ariz. The win snaps a seven-game losing streak for the Tigers.

The game was called after eight innings due to travel arrangements. A three-hour time limit was placed on the game prior to first pitch.

Luke Anders homered and drove in four runs and Brooks Raley tossed a strong six innings to lead No. 1 Texas A&M to a 9-2 win over No. 5 UC Irvine Friday afternoon in the first game of the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park.

ST. LOUIS – Missouri State, which returns a dominating veteran pitching staff and solid depth from last year’s Missouri Valley Conference runner-up squad, has been tabbed as the league favorite in the annual coaches’ preseason poll, receiving eight of nine first place votes.

The Bears tallied 80 points and were a sound favorite over second-place pick Creighton (66 points). 2008 champion Wichita State, who secured the remaining first-place vote and 63 points overall, was picked to finish in the third position. Read the rest of this entry »
