MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The 18th-ranked Ouachita Baptist University baseball team used a seven-run first inning to cruise to a 12-7 victory over No. 30 Montevallo Sunday afternoon at Kermit A. Johnson Field.

The Tigers (18-7) had four players have a multi-hit game. Brock Green was 3-for-5, while Will Gowdy went 2-for-4. JoeDan Poulter was 2-for-5, and Drew Wurzelbacher went 2-for-3.

ARKADELPHIA – Justin Pennell made the most of his final home collegiate at-bat Tuesday afternoon as the senior belted a walkoff grand slam home run to lift the 25th-ranked Ouachita Baptist baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Montevallo, 6-2 and 6-4 in a non-conference series at Rab Rodgers Field.

After a scoreless first three innings in the second contest, Montevallo got on the scoreboard in the fourth when Chris Cooper homered to center, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead

The Valley League has released players of the week for July 23rd. Ryan Sontag and Luke Greinke each were named Players of the week while Wade Korpi and Zac Blakney were named Pitchers of the Week. Ryan Sontag of Arizona State hit .433 last week in seven games while scoring nine runs, getting 13 hits, and driving in six runners. Luke Greinke of Auburn hit .619 last week while leading the league with 13 hits. Wade Korpi of Notre Dame pitched seven shutout innings last week while only allowing three hits as he led his team to a victory on Saturday night. Zac Blakney of the University of Montevallo threw six shutout innings while giving up only five hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts.
