Share The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 87 in our countdown with Murray State senior first baseman/DH Wes Cunningham. He is from Louisville Kentucky where he attended Eastern High School where he picked up four letters playing for John Morris. He helped lead them to a district championship and a 32-7 record in his final season.

A home-and-home series with Kentucky and Western Kentucky, along with a road game at Ole Miss, highlight the 2010 Murray State baseball schedule that was announced by head coach Rob McDonald Thursday.
“Our 2010 schedule will be very competitive,” said McDonald. “The tough non-conference schedule will prepare us to make another run at the Ohio Valley Conference championship. I am excited to have home-and-home series with local rivals Western Kentucky, Evansville, Arkansas State and Belmont, as well as a trip to Ole Miss.”

#9 LSU 2 Northwestern State 1
Sophomore Micah Gibbs drove in the game-winning run on a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead No. 5 LSU past Northwestern State, 2-1, Tuesday in Alex Box Stadium.
Coming in to pinch hit for first baseman Buzzy Haydel with one out and the bases loaded, Gibbs drilled a 2-2 offering into the gap in right center field to break open a 1-1 tie and bring senior Derek Helenihi home for the victory.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — For the second year in a row, Jacksonville State has been picked as the preseason favorite for the nine-team league in a vote of Ohio Valley Conference head baseball coaches. A 32-game home schedule that features 13 of the first 14 games at Johnny Reagan Field highlights the 2009 Murray State baseball schedule, announced by head coach Rob McDonald on Wednesday.
Fans will get plenty of chances to see the ‘Breds early at the friendly confines of Johnny Reagan Field. The season gets underway on Feb. 20 with a three-game home stand against South Dakota State. After a midweek tilt at Memphis (Feb. 24), the ‘Breds will host a four-game series with Illinois State (Feb. 27-March 1), followed by a midweek game against Arkansas State (March 3), four games with North Dakota State (March 6-8) and a March 11 game against Mississippi Valley State.

ARKADELPHIA – Ouachita Baptist University head baseball coach Chris Moddelmog announced Monday the hiring of Luke Howard.
Howard will assume the role of pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Ouachita Baptist. He comes to OBU after a one year stint at Murray State University, a Division I school in the Ohio Valley Conference.
“Luke will bring a lot of energy and excitement to our program. He is a good recruiter and a tireless worker on and off the field. I look forward to him and his wife Anne joining the OBU baseball family,” Moddelmog said.

Bethune-Cookman 10 South Florida 3
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida baseball team lost, 10-3, to Bethune-Cookman Wednesday night at Red McEwen Field.
The Bulls drop to 25-21 overall while the Wildcats improve to 30-17.
Junior Chris Rey was 3-for-4 in the game with one RBI and a run scored, while junior Addison Maruszak added a two-hit outing to the Bulls’ offense.
Freshman Zach Pietrzyk made his longest start, and appearance, of his rookie campaign against the Wildcats, striking out two in his 4.1-inning outing. He allowed five runs from seven hits to take his second loss of the year. Read the rest of this entry »
