Due to a mixup by the Boston Red Sox, the ACC Baseball tourney has been removed from Fenway Park after a scheduling mixup between the Boston Red Sox and the Fenway Sports Group. The reason behind this is the fact that the Boston Red Sox gave the wrong dates to Major League Baseball and have scheduled games for that weekend. Read the rest of this entry »

ATHENS, Ga. - NC State’s bats weren’t powerful Saturday afternoon, but they were productive.

ATHENS, Ga. — Trevor Holder pitched a career-high 8.2 innings as seventh-ranked Georgia defeated 15th-ranked NC State, 11-2, in game one of the NCAA Athens Super Regional Friday before a crowd of 3,517 at Foley Field.
The Bulldogs (40-22-1) picked up their 40th win of the year while N.C. State dropped to 4-121. Georgia and NC State will meet in the second game of the best two-out-of-three series Saturday at noon ET (ESPN2).
NC State (41-21) grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the third, but Georgia answered with four runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning and a five-run outburst in the sixth put the game away as the Bulldogs cruised to their fifth straight win behind Holder.

The NC State Wolfpack head down to Athens Ga to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in a matchup between ACC/SEC schools. The Wolfpack have a 40-20 overall record while going 18-11 in the ACC. Raleigh, N.C. - Reese Havens’ two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted South Carolina to a 7-5 win over James Madison in NCAA Regional action in Raleigh, N.C. on Sunday afternoon. The win eliminates JMU from the tournament and puts the Gamecocks in a game with NC State later this evening with first pitch scheduled for 6 pm at Doak Field. Carolina is now 40-22 on the year. The 40-win total marks the ninth straight season that the Gamecocks have recorded 40-plus victories, the only SEC school to accomplish the feat from 2000-08. CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 31, 2008 - Trailing 10-2 at the halfway point, James Madison fought back to outscore Charlotte 11-1 over the next two and a half innings and held on for a 13-12 win in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon in the Raleigh Regional of the 2008 NCAA Baseball Championship at Doak Field at Dail Park.
“I think that was a great college baseball game,” commented JMU head coach Spanky McFarland. “Obviously there were mistakes made by both teams, but you had two clubs that fought and clawed and didn’t want to go home. The NC State Wolfpack will host a Regional this year in Raleigh NC. They will be joined by James Madison, Charlotte, and South Carolina. NC State has a record of 38-20 while going a respectful 18-11 in the ACC. James Madison comes in with a 38-17 record with a 20-9 record in the CAA. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The second of Dave DiNatale’s two homers lifted top-seeded Miami to a 15-12 victory over Georgia Tech on Thursday night in the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

The ACC Tourney starts up tomorrow with the league split into two pools with four teams in each one. Pool A has Miami (FL), Clemson, NC State, and Ga Tech in it while Pool B has FSU, Wake Forest, UNC, and Virginia. I believe that Miami (FL) will meet UNC in the Finals. Read the rest of this entry »
