DustinAckleyUNC Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com recently put out his list of the Top Hitters during the 2000’s which is led by Dustin Ackley of North Carolina. He hit over .400 in each of his three seasons in Chapel Hill including playing in the College World Series during each season.

nesseth_croppedPhoto Nebraska head coach Mike Anderson has released the 2010 slate for his Cornhuskers.  The Huskers finished a disappointing last place in the Big 12 last year but are looking to get back to being a mainstay at the College World Series like they were at the start of the decade.

The Huskers will begin the 2010 season on the West Coast, as they travel to California to take on Fresno State (Feb. 19-22) in a four game set.  Nebraska will then visit Houston, Texas, to take part in the Rice Invitational (Feb. 26-28) where they will play games against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, host Rice, and Elon.

DannyHultzen Rivals.com College Baseball editor Kendall Rogers has put out an article detailing five programs that are rising in prestige and five that are starting to fall off the map. The programs that he sees coming on are: TCU, Virginia, East Carolina, Kansas and Ohio State. The five programs that are starting to fall are: Arizona, Baylor, Tulane, Nebraska, and California. He has some interesting commentary on each team as I can see his reasoning on all the programs except for one in Baylor.

ConnorRoweCameronRuppCWS Kendall Rogers continues his series of conference reports heading into Fall Practice with the Big 12. He states that the Big 12 on paper is slightly down from where they have been in the past couple of years but as I always say when the pedal gets to the metal in February we will see how strong the Big 12 actually is.

_hub6424_375_large Lincoln (www.Huskers.com) – University of Nebraska Head Coach Mike Anderson announced Wednesday that seven student-athletes have joined the Husker baseball program for the upcoming season.

Tuesday’s group includes four pitchers and three catchers, and features three players from Nebraska in addition to student-athletes from Minnesota, Missouri, Texas and California.

“We are excited about completing this year’s recruiting class,” Anderson said. “This group of players, combined with the players we announced earlier this year, brings a lot of potential for not only this season, but for the future as well.”

IRVING, Texas—J.T. Wise (Oklahoma) and A.J. Morris (Kansas State) highlight the 2009 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Baseball Awards as Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, it was announced on Tuesday. Kansas’ David Narodowski has been named the top newcomer, while Garrett Buechele (Oklahoma) is the Freshman of the Year. Brad Hill of Kansas State has earned Coach of the Year accolades.

NORMAN, Okla. — The No. 13 Sooners hit three home runs en route to a 6-5 victory over No. 16 Texas A&M during Friday’s series opener in front of 1,236 fans at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

J.T. Wise’s 17th home run of the year, a two-run blast in the fifth inning, gave OU a 6-4 advantage as Ryan Duke recorded his 13th save of the season.

With Texas locking up the Big 12 regular season championship last weekend, it’s a battle for second place in the conference this weekend.  Oklahoma and Texas A&M both sit at 14-10 in conference play, and the two teams face off in Norman this weekend with a potential NCAA host spot on the line.  Kansas and Kansas State face off in a split series, with the first game in Manhattan on Friday and the remaining two games in Lawrence.  Read the rest of this entry »
