LAS CRUCES, NM- - For the second straight weekend the Fresno State baseball team swept a four-game series from a conference opponent. Last weekend the Bulldogs took four games from Louisiana Tech and this weekend the Dogs took four at New Mexico State after beating the Aggies 24-6 in seven innings on Sunday afternoon at Presley Askew Field.

They are currently 10-10 on the year after knocking off the University of New Mexico on Tuesday. The full interview talking about the last two weeks of action for the Aggies is available here.

Our buddy over at BleedCrimson.net talked with Gary Ward and Rocky Ward about Gary being inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame two days ago. Gary is currently the assistant coach with the New Mexico State Aggies with his son Rocky as the head coach. Gary had a successful career with Oklahoma State from 1978-1996 then with the Aggies in 2001 and 2002 before turning the reins over to his son. Gary led Oklahoma State to 16 consecutive conference titles and 17 NCAA Regional appearances, and 10 trips to the CWS. He led the Aggies to the 2002 Sun Belt Championship as he finished with a 1,022-361-1 record which is fourth all-time. You can hear the whole interview by clicking here.

The New Mexico State Aggies will host the New Orleans Privateers on Friday in the first game of a three game set. The Aggies are coming off a 22-34 season while going 6-18 in the WAC. New Orleans is coming off a Sun Belt championship which saw them participate in the Wichita State Regional where they went 1-2. According to a press release from Fresno State, the field for the 2008 Pepsi Johnny Quik Tournament has been set. The Fresno State Bulldogs will act as host of the tournament with Utah, New Mexico State, Portland, Gonzaga, and Indiana all taking part in the week long tournament from March 10th-15th.
