NEW ORLEANS – Scott Biesecker has been named associate head baseball coach at the University of New Orleans, it was announced on Friday.
It was a familiar hire for UNO head coach Bruce Peddie, who worked with Biesecker for nine years while Peddie was the head coach at Division II Shippensburg.

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans baseball team will play two schools that reached the College World Series last year, highlighting the 2010 schedule released on Tuesday.
The Privateers will play 12 games against schools that reached NCAA postseason play last season, including three games against CWS participants LSU and Southern Mississippi.

NEW ORLEANS – It has been a longtime dream for Bruce Peddie, and the dream came true on Tuesday.
After a three-year stint as the associate head baseball coach at the University of New Orleans, the school will recommend Peddie to the President of the LSU System for consideration of the LSU Board of Supervisors for the program’s top spot.
Peddie becomes the program’s sixth head baseball coach — replacing Tom Walter, who was recently named the head coach at Wake Forest.
Wake Forest new head coach Tom Walter has announced that he has hired Bill Cilento as an assistant coach. He comes over from Brown University where he spent the last three seasons. He brought the Brown Bears to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 where they led the Ivy League in every offensive category including winning the team batting average title by 39 points. Bourne defeated Yarmouth-Dennis 7-5 behind Nick Schwaner (New Orleans) who went 2-5 including three RBI. He hit a three run homer in the third inning which tied up the game at the time. Box Score

The AP is reporting that New Orleans will promote Bruce Peddie to head coach to replace Tom Walter who took the job at Wake Forest in the past week. Peddie has been with the school for the past three seasons and has 22 years as an assistant during his coaching career. The decision to hire Peddie will not become official for over a month as the school might end up cutting the entire athletic department due to the financial crisis that the school is facing. Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com/Yahoo Sports is reporting that Wake Forest has agreed to terms with New Orleans head coach Tom Walter. He has spent the last five seasons with the Privateers accumulating a less then stellar 153-147 record at the school. This record is deceptive as UNO had to face the Hurricane Katrina disaster which took the members of the squad’s minds off the field for the entire season. This past season saw UNO only go 22-33 which is less then impressive but made back to back regionals in the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Read the rest of this entry »
