THIBODAUX, La. - Head Coach Chip Durham and the Nicholls baseball program signed seven National Letters-of-Intent through the early signing period, inking five junior college transfers and two high school players.
“I am very happy with our early signing class for the 2009-10 school year,” Durham stated. “Coach Seth Thibodeaux and Coach Chris Prothro did a very nice job on recruiting these student-athletes. Among the seven signees, five are pitchers, one an infielder and one is an outfielder.”

The ‘Prothro Persicks’ swept the baseball fall world series two games to none this past weekend, winning game one 9-3 and taking game two by a score of 1-0.
Friday evening in game one, the ‘Newman Masters’ quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the ‘Prothro Persicks’ responded with three runs in the second to take the lead. The squad added to the lead with two in the third and two more in the fourth.

NICHOLLS STATE BASEBALL BEGINS FALL PRACTICE SESSIONS
With 15 returners and 23 newcomers, the Colonel baseball team took to the field for the first time this week in preparation for the 2009 season.
“I think we’ve had three really good practices to open the fall and the thing that is really evident about this team already is that we definitely have team speed,” remarked head coach Chip Durham. “We have position players who can really run and that makes us feel really good about being in a situation where, as we continue to develop over the fall, we really have a chance to play defense well.”

Baseball Program Holds 11th Annual Bullpen Golf Outing. Event raised nearly $40,000 for the baseball program.
QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John’s baseball program hosted its 11th annual Bullpen Golf Outing at Pelham Country Club in Pelham Manor, N.Y., on July 28. The event, with title sponsor Chartwells, raised over $40,000 to benefit the Red Storm baseball program.

SAN MARCOS - Four home runs, including a grand slam in the fifth inning coupled with a season-tying hit tally and a season-best stolen base mark highlighted the Texas State Bobcats first Southland Conference sweep of the season in the 13-4 takeover against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Zach Tritz held out for seven complete innings to notch his sixth straight win and maintain his perfect record on the mound. The `Cats now boast a 9-3 league record and a 17-10 overall mark after the success at Bobcat Field Sunday afternoon.

November 14th was the first day that recruits for the 2008-2009 school year could sign their letter of intent. We have found many schools have put out a listing of the recruits who have signed already. A couple of highlights are that UCLA has signed three AFLAC All-Americans, Illinois picked up four in-state recruits, and finally Southern Miss picked up three players from Mississippi.
