Kenny HouserTrue Freshman Kenny Houser pitched a no-hitter for the Point Loma Nazarene Sea Lions in a 12-0 win over Vanguard on Thursday. Houser faced 30 batters, struck out nine, walked three.

Houser came to Point Loma Nazarene from Agua Fria High School in Litchfield Park, AZ, and threw two no-hitters there.

The North Dakota State Bison threw a seven inning no-hitter against Creighton on Wednesday but lost the game 2-0. NDSU starter Chris Berg started the game by walking four out of the first six hitters by walking in a run and hitting a batter to let the Blue Jays get a 2-0 lead. He would walk the first batter in the second inning before being replaced by Chris Paterson. The Bluejays would load the bases in the third inning but Paterson was able to get out of the jam. Levi CurrySenior LHP Levi Curry of Mount Vernon, OH pitched a perfect seven-inning game for Mount Vernon Nazarene in a 7-0 win against Cedarville on March 26. Curry struck out ten of the 21 batters he faced, and threw 90 pitches. He is 3-1 on the season.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Junior All-American Josh Romanski threw his first collegiate no-hitter to help guide the 14th-ranked University of San Diego baseball team to a 12-0 win over Harvard University Monday afternoon at USD’s Cunningham Stadium.Romanski (4-0) faced one above the minimum in the game as he retired the first 13 batters he faced, before he hit Harvard’s Matt Kramer in the top of the fifth inning. Romanski then retired the remaining 14 batters, while posting a season-high eight strikeouts in the win. The Crimson nearly broke up the no-hitter in the seventh inning on a well hit ball to the left side, but shortstop Sean Nicol dove on the ball to knock it down, then popped up and just made the throw in time to preserve the no-hitter. Brian WardLewis-Clark State swept a three-game series with Division II Dixie State, 4-3, 12-11, and 19-6. The Warriors have won nine straight. In the second game, Brian Ward hit a single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to bring in the winning run; Michael Guerrero got the win to run his record to 3-0, 1.46 ERA. Ward hit a home run and had four RBI in the third game. The Warriors play a good College of Idaho team in mid-week, and play at Corban (Salem, OR) Friday and Saturday. Read the rest of this entry »

Andrew McNulty threw Franklin Pierce’s fifth no-hitter in the school’s history in a 7-0 victory over Bloomfield College of New Jersey. McNulty is a senior for the Ravens and a transfer from Seton Hall. He pitched all seven innings while walking five and striking out seven. This was the second game of the doubleheader as Franklin Pierce won game 1 by a score of 19-3.

Oregon State opened the season last night in Hawai’i and they got off to a fantastic start with four pitchers combining for a no-hitter which was the first in 40 years for the Beavers. Oregon State won the game 5-0 over Hawai’i-Hilo. Mitch Canham was the star on offense going 4-5 at the plate with one run scored and one batted in. He also caught the no hitter which was thrown by Mike Stutes (5 IP, 7 K’s, and 2 BB), Josh Keller (2 IP and 2 K’s), Mark Grbavac (1 IP and 2 K’s), and Jorge Reyes (1 IP and 1BB) who pitched the ninth. Lars Knepper started the game for the Vulcans and pitched 4.2 innings giving up 2 runs (1 earned) while striking out ten batters. He was followed up by Jeffrey Germain (2.1 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, and zero earned runs) and Emil DeAndreis (2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 Earned run, and 3 BB).
