BROOKLINE MASS – In a game that featured an early unusual twist, it was a return to form that propelled Northeastern to a win over VCU Saturday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.

BROOKLINE MASS. – In a series crucial to the CAA standings, it was VCU who struck the first blow.
The Rams used a complete game effort from senior Ian Thomas (4-2, 4.39) and took advantage of some miscues in the field by Northeastern to down the Huskies 7-2 Friday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.

Krieger batted .692 (9-13) with a homer, two triples, five runs scored and seven RBI as George Mason won two of three at VCU last weekend. The senior outfielder had at least two hits and two RBI in each game, including a 4-for-5 performance with three RBI on Saturday.
Kenny Burns of Rhode Island robs Mike Tamsin (Northeastern) of a sixth inning home run with an outstanding catch on April 20th. The catch did not help the Rams as J.T. Ross tossed a one hitter as the Huskies rolled 12-1 over the Rhode Island Rams.

BROOKLINE MASS.- A tough conference loss for Northeastern could provide a confidence booster down the stretch for an already potent Husky pitching staff.

Northeastern wins 2009 Beanpot Title 5-3 over UMass(Jim Pierce/Northeastern University)
The College Baseball Blog made the trip to Fenway Park to take in the Beanpot Tournament on Monday afternoon. The Championship game featured Northeastern University against the University of Massachusetts. Northeastern entered the weekend on a two game winning streak as they took the final two games in their series against Dallas Baptist while UMass entered the game after taking two out of three games against St. Louis. Knight excelled with the bat and on the mound in JMU’s five games last week. At the plate, Knight batted .600 (15-25) with a double, two triples, four homers, 12 runs scored and 13 RBI. He drove in at least two runs in all five contests and hit .667 as the Dukes won two of three at VCU. Knight also made his first career pitching start on Sunday and allowed just three hits over six shutout innings while fanning six.

The first story of the night was Kent State’s Brad Stillings (TCBB 40th Best Player) twirling a nine inning no-hitter against Toledo as the Golden Flashes picked up a 1-0 victory over MAC rival Toledo. Stillings went nine innings without walking anyone and only a second inning error kept him from getting a perfect game.
