Notre Dame 5 Northern Illinois 4
CHICAGO, Ill. - The Northern Illinois baseball team could not snap No. 29 Notre Dame’s ten-game winning streak as the Huskies fell, 5-4, in front of a school-record 4,600 fans at U.S. Cellular Field on Wednesday night.
In a game that had four lead changes, the Fighting Irish (23-9-1) came out on top after a three-base Huskie error in the eighth inning allowed Notre Dame’s Ross Brezovsky to give the Irish a 5-4 lead on an RBI groundout.
The Huskies (15-17) plated two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead off an RBI single from Justin Behm (Downers Grove, Ill./North) that scored Pat Minogue (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central), who led off the game with a single to center. A sacrifice fly from Dave Reynolds (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) plated Jeff Thomas (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) for NIU’s second run. Read the rest of this entry »

DeKALB, Ill. – A 10th-inning walkoff single by Jordin Hood (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) scored Danny Reed (Lindstrom, Minn./North Iowa Area CC) to lift Northern Illinois to a 3-2 victory over UW-Milwaukee Wednesday afternoon at Ralph McKinzie Field. Hofstra 12 Coppin State 3
Hempstead, NY- Hofstra scored three or more runs in the first three innings during which Matt Kougasian had four RBI and Nick Panzarella had three RBI as the Pride defeated Coppin State, 12-3, Wednesday afternoon. With the victory the Pride improve to 8-16 while the Eagles fall to 3-23.
Hofstra jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning. After the first three runners reached base for the Pride, Kougasian drove a run home with a sacrifice fly for the first run. DALLAS, Texas - Northern Illinois and Dallas Baptists combined for 19 runs and 23 hits Thursday night before the home team prevailed 11-8 at Patriot Field. The Huskies (3-9) held a 7-5 advantage before the Patriots (10-4), who received votes in this week’s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll, mounted a comeback keyed by a five-run seventh inning. FULLERTON, Calif. - The 21st-ranked University of San Diego baseball team scored four unanswered runs in picking up a 6-2 win over No. 16 Cal State Fullerton Tuesday evening in a non-conference game at Goodwin Field.

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of South Florida Bulls ended their two-game skid with a 9-8 victory against the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday night at Red McEwen Field.
USF improves to 3-2 on the season while the Wildcats drop to 3-3.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been added to the UTSA Baseball Classic this weekend after having to cancel their series against Northern Illinois after the tragedies that took place on that campus last week. The Red Raiders will open up play against Louisiana on Saturday at 10 am. They will then play Army on Sunday at 10 am and finish play against UTSA on Monday at 2 pm.
