LEWISBURG, Pa. – No one, not even Lafayette head coach Joe Kinney, expected Sunday’s starter, Ryan Hanna, to pitch seven innings after throwing three-plus innings on Saturday. Hanna defied expectations, however, and his seven innings of one-run ball helped advance the Leopards to the Patriot League Championship series with a 10-2 win over Bucknell. LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lafayette baseball team proved it’s a resilient bunch when the squad rebounded from a game one loss to Bucknell in the Patriot League semifinals to put up 20 runs in a 20-9 game two victory. This weekend was the final weekend of Patriot League action as Bucknell clinched the number 1 seed for the Patriot League tournament while Army is the number 2 seed. Holy Cross is the third seed while Lafayette rounds out the field as the number 4 seed. The opening round of play begins on May 9th when Bucknell hosts Lafayette while Holy Cross heads to Army.

EASTON, Pa. – J.T. Watkins, Joey Henshaw and Kyle Fleming homered and Matt Fouch fired six shutout innings as the Black Knights clinched their fifth Patriot League Tournament berth in six years with a 12-2 defeat of Lafayette in the first game of the teams’ doubleheader, Saturday afternoon at Kamine Stadium.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The start of Bucknell’s four-game baseball series at Holy Cross was delayed one day, but it didn’t seem to bother the Bison, who swept a doubleheader from the Crusaders on Sunday at Fitton Field. Bucknell claimed game one by a 2-1 score behind a complete game four-hitter from Trey Frahler (Northfield, Ill./New Trier). In the nightcap, the Bison pounded out 14 hits and received three runs batted in from both Doug Shribman (Marblehead, Mass./Belmont Hill School) and B.J. EASTON, Pa. – Lehigh pushed across two runs in the bottom of the seventh to erase a 3-2 Lafayette lead and hold on for a 4-3 win in Patriot League baseball action on Saturday at Kamine Stadium. Patriot League Player of the Week (March 30-April 5)
Matt Perry, Holy Cross Jr., 3B, Sudbury, Mass.

Perry had an impressive week to lead Holy Cross to a 4-2 overall record and keep the Crusaders on top of the Patriot League standings with a split of a weekend series at Army. Perry was 12-for-24 (.500) with four home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs scored in Holy Cross’ contests. He also notched three doubles and four walks to finish with an on-base percentage of .571 for the week. Perry had an outstanding doubleheader as the Crusaders swept the Black Knights on Saturday. He was 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in an 11-2 win in game one, and went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs in game two. Perry also played a big role in two one-run wins in non-League play, hitting a home run in a 6-5 victory over Massachusetts on Tuesday and going 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored in a 12-11 triumph at Harvard on Wednesday. He notched the game-winning single in the ninth inning against the Crimson. Perry leads the Patriot League with six home runs and a .688 slugging percentage this year.
