Steve Rodriguez and Pepperdine University have release their schedule. Pepperdine will start their season against the Cal State Northridge with the Friday and Sunday game at Pepperdine and the Saturday game at Northridge. Pepperdine will travel down to USC for a mid-week game on Wednesday the 25th of February. On February 27th Pepperdine will travel to Davis, California to Play UC Davis in a three game weekend series. They will then return to Los Angles to play UCLA in a mid-week contest. They finally get to return home to play in a four game series against Evansville. They will play a DH on Saturday.

Keunwoo Jeong

Canada out-hit Korea 5-3, but the only run of the game came on a home run by Keunwoo Jeong in the top of the third, off Canadian starter Mike Johnson.

Hyunjin Ryu pitched a complete game for Korea, struck out six, walked three. Johnson went six innings, allowed all three of Korea’s hits. David Davidson and Tim Burton were Canada’s relievers.

Canada’s best chance to score came in the bottom of the ninth. Mike Saunders opened the inning with a hit, and was on third with one out after Nick Weglarz got a hit. Brett Lawrie flied out. Matt Rogelstad (Arkansas State) drew a walk, loading the bases and and moving Weglarz, the potential winning run, to second. STANFORD, Calif. - Sean Ratliff’s grand slam, his 20th home run of the season, capped off a six-run fifth inning that provided the Stanford baseball team the boost it needed to pull ahead of Pepperdine and hold it together for a 9-7 victory Monday over the Waves (38-21). The win sends the Cardinal (37-22-2) to the program’s seventh Super Regional appearance next weekend, where it will face the winner of Monday night’s Fullerton Regional final between UCLA and CS Fullerton. GAME ONE - #1 STANFORD VS. #4 UC-DAVIS
Top ranked Stanford used a five run ninth inning to stave off elimination in the Palo Alto Regional. The Cardinal found themselves down 4-3 heading into the top of the ninth but a five run inning propelled the Cardinal into the championship game against 2-seed Pepperdine.

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford baseball team lives on at the NCAA Regional, defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks, 5-1, in an elimination game Saturday at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond. Randy Molina had three hits Saturday, including his fifth home run of the season, and Austin Yount tossed five innings of one-run ball and struck out five to earn his fifth win. GAME ONE - #2 PEPPERDINE VS. #3 ARKANSAS
Pepperdine defeated Arkansas 4-3 in the opening round matchup between the 2-seed Waves and the 3-seed Razorbacks. The Razorbacks and Waves traded runs in the second and fourth sending the game to a 2-2 tie heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth the Waves’ Chase D’Arnaud homered to break the tie and the Waves added an insurance run after Nate Simon reached on a fielding error by the first baseman. Simon stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher and was brought home by a Denny Duron single. Arkansas tried to rally in the top of the ninth scoring a run to cut the lead to 4-3 but were unable to score a runner from third with two outs.

Nathan Newman picked up his seventh win the of the season going 6.2 innings giving up two runs. Nick Gaudi picked up his 13th save of the season. Cliff Springston took the loss for the Razorbacks giving up all four Pepperdine runs.

The Stanford Cardinals enter the Regionals with a 33-21 record while having a 14-10 record in the Pac-10. They will be joined by Pepperdine who has a 36-18 record while finishing second in the West Coast Conference with a 14-6 record. Arkansas will join the clubs as they finished with a 34-22 record and a 14-15 record in the SEC which kept the Razorbacks out of the SEC Conference Tourney. SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference baseball Championship Series scheduled between No. 7 University of San Diego and No. 13 Pepperdine University for Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. has been postponed due to inclement weather in the San Diego area. The two teams will now play a double-header on Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.. Game two will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Cal State Northridge (21-25) rode a wave of offense to its 21st victory Wednesday, notching three consecutive doubles in the fourth and cruising to a 4-2 victory over UNLV (20-24). The Northridge pitching effort returned to form behind a strong start from Drew Muren, who tossed five shutout frames before handing off to Davin Tate and the rest of the bullpen.

Muren wrapped us his first career shutout appearance in the fifth by facing just four batters and also posted two perfect innings. The freshman right-hander only got into any real trouble in the second, when Jesse Wight smacked a leadoff double for the Rebels. Muren, however, promptly picked him off and struck out the second man of the inning. Muren then surrendered a single and a walk before getting a fly out to finish the inning. MALIBU, Calif. – #11 Pepperdine’s bats came alive a day after getting shut out, as the Waves used a 14-hit attack to down UC Santa Barbara 14-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

Pepperdine improved to 18-9 (1-1 WCC) with the win, while UCSB fell to 19-8.

A day after getting shut out for the first time this season, the Waves wasted no time putting runs on the board on Wednesday, scoring two runs in the first inning on two-out RBI singles from David Harris and Chase d’Arnaud to give the Waves a 2-0 lead. Read the rest of this entry »

Pepperdine 10 TCU 4

MINNEAPOLIS — #29 Pepperdine scored six runs in the top of the ninth to complete its second consecutive rally, and The Waves claimed a 10-4 win over TCU on Saturday at the Minnesota Dairy Queen Classic in Minneapolis.

The Waves (5-1) extended their winning streak to four games, while TCU fell to 3-3. The Waves trailed yesterday to Tulane 2-1 in the sixth inning, but rallied to claim a 4-2 win over the #18th-ranked Green Wave. Pepperdine improved to 2-0 at the Dairy Queen Classic with the win.
