QuinnipiacBobcats NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University baseball and tennis team’s visited the Fair Haven School in New Haven, Conn. to read to several groups of young students. Quinnipiac assistant athletic director of academic support Lyneene Richardson coordinated the event, while tennis head coach Mike Quitko, baseball head coach Dan Gooley organized the Quinnipiac student-athletes for the trip.

QUlefty_ChrisGloor_web The San Mateo Daily Journal recently checked in on Salem-Keizer who is the Low-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. One of the players profiled is Chris Dominguez from Louisville. He has continued his power hitting in pro baseball as he has already hit nine homers in his first 102 at bats. I had questions on Dominguez’s defense during his college days and there is still a little debate according to his manager Tom Treblehorn. One of the other players profiled is former Quinnipiac lefty Chris Gloor who picked up four wins last week in his first four appearances.

The College Baseball Blog made the short trek over to Holy Cross to take in a split doubleheader with Holy Cross playing both Yale and Quinnipiac in nine inning games. NEC Preseason Favorite Monmouth eyes fourth- ever league crown

Somerset, NJ — Monmouth won five first-place votes to find itself in its familiar position atop the Northeast Conference baseball preseason poll. The Hawks have earned the moniker of NEC preseason favorite in three of the past four years. Central Connecticut State collected two first-place nods to finish second in the vote by the conference’s eight head coaches followed by Wagner which garnered the remaining first-place vote in third. The league office released the annual rankings on Thursday as a prelude to its 23rd season of Division I baseball.

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University baseball Head Coach Dan Gooley has announced the signing of six players to National Letters of Intent to attend Quinnipiac next fall. Connecticut natives George Dummar, III (Branford, Conn.), Spencer Kane (Wolcott, Conn.), Kevin Castodio (Pawcatuck, Conn.) and Alex Russow (Milford, Conn.) in addition to Derek Lamacchia (White Stone, N.Y.) and Tom Donovan (Marshfield, Mass.) will suit up for the Bobcats next season.

“We are very excited to have all six of these young men joining the Quinnipiac family,” Gooley said. “All of them have had great scholastic success, both on the field and in the classroom. We look forward to their contributions here at Quinnipiac.” Read the rest of this entry »

We recently saw the Big East and Big Ten set up an interconference matchups of games in Florida but we recently found out the America East and the Northeast conference will be playing a similar tournament from March 27th-29th. The three teams from the America East conference will visit the Northeast conference members over the three days where they will play single games on Friday and Sunday with a doubleheader on Saturday.
