MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A total of 37 standout freshmen college baseball players from every part of the country are featured on the annual Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-American Team, the organization announced today.
The 2009 Pro-Line Athletic NCBWA Freshman All-American Team is comprised from 17 conferences and 10 conference championship teams. The two All-American squads are also made up of 12 conference “Rookie of the Year” winners.

GREENVILLE, North Carolina- With his team trailing 9-6 in the bottom of the ninth, Devin Harris hit a three-run home run to tie the contest before also delivering the game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th, lifting top-seeded East Carolina to a 10-9 victory over No. 2 seed South Carolina in the Greenville Regional Championship Game Monday evening. A crowd of 5,047 witnessed the contest at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium, representing the fourth-largest single-game attendance in facility and program history. East Carolina won two games Sunday to force a Monday game in its regional at Clark-LeClair Stadium in Greenville, N.C.
The Pirates dispatched Binghamton, 16-9, in an elimination, game, then withstood a late rally from South Carolina in Sunday’s second game for an 8-6 victory.

South Carolina moved into the championship round of the Greenville Regional with a 12-2 win over host East Carolina Saturday night at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Pirates, who beat Binghamton earlier Saturday, 11-7, in a first-round game postponed from Friday, meet Binghamton again at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the winner advancing to face the Gamecocks at 6 p.m. USC can advance to the Super Regionals with a win either Sunday or Monday night. South Carolina won its opener over George Mason, but East Carolina and Binghamton were rained out in the second game Friday in the Greenville Regional at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

East Carolina will host the 2009 Greenville Regional at Clark-LeClair Stadium. The first game of the regional will be between the two seed, South Carolina Gamecocks, and the three seed, George Mason Patriots, at 3 p.m. ET on Friday. The host team and one seed, East Carolina, will then take on Binghamton at 7 p.m ET.
The first elimination game is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, and the winner’s bracket championship will be that night at 6 p.m. ET. The loser’s bracket championship will be Sunday at 2 p.m. ET with the first championship game to follow that evening at 6 p.m. ET. HOOVER, Ala. — Mike Minor pitched his second complete game victory in three games to lead Vanderbilt to a 4-1 win over No. 2 LSU Wednesday night in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference tournament at Regions Park.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Alabama outfielder Kent Matthes was selected 2009 SEC Baseball Player of the Year, LSU’s Louis Coleman was named SEC Pitcher of the Year and Florida first baseman Preston Tucker and LSU reliever Matty Ott were named SEC Co-Freshmen of the Year by a vote of the league’s 12 head baseball coaches. The top 8 SEC teams collide in Hoover this week with a conference tournament championship and automatic bid to the NCAA tournament on the line. The LSU Tigers find themselves as the top overall seed, posting a 20-10 record in SEC play and winning the tie-breaker over co-champion Ole Miss. Florida, the SEC East champs, earned the two seed.
