MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A total of 37 standout freshmen college baseball players from every part of the country are featured on the annual Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-American Team, the organization announced today. The 2009 Pro-Line Athletic NCBWA Freshman All-American Team is comprised from 17 conferences and 10 conference championship teams. The two All-American squads are also made up of 12 conference “Rookie of the Year” winners. East Carolina won two games Sunday to force a Monday game in its regional at Clark-LeClair Stadium in Greenville, N.C. The Pirates dispatched Binghamton, 16-9, in an elimination, game, then withstood a late rally from South Carolina in Sunday’s second game for an 8-6 victory. The winner-take-all final for the right to play North Carolina in the Super Regionals begins at 6 p.m. Monday. South Carolina moved into the championship round of the Greenville Regional with a 12-2 win over host East Carolina Saturday night at Clark-LeClair Stadium. The Pirates, who beat Binghamton earlier Saturday, 11-7, in a first-round game postponed from Friday, meet Binghamton again at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the winner advancing to face the Gamecocks at 6 p.m. USC can advance to the Super Regionals with a win either Sunday or Monday night.
