East Carolina won two games Sunday to force a Monday game in its regional at Clark-LeClair Stadium in Greenville, N.C.
The Pirates dispatched Binghamton, 16-9, in an elimination, game, then withstood a late rally from South Carolina in Sunday’s second game for an 8-6 victory.

ShareSouth Carolina moved into the championship round of the Greenville Regional with a 12-2 win over host East Carolina Saturday night at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Pirates, who beat Binghamton earlier Saturday, 11-7, in a first-round game postponed from Friday, meet Binghamton again at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the winner advancing to face the Gamecocks at 6 p.m. USC can advance to the Super Regionals with a win either Sunday or Monday night. South Carolina won its opener over George Mason, but East Carolina and Binghamton were rained out in the second game Friday in the Greenville Regional at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

East Carolina will host the 2009 Greenville Regional at Clark-LeClair Stadium. The first game of the regional will be between the two seed, South Carolina Gamecocks, and the three seed, George Mason Patriots, at 3 p.m. ET on Friday. The host team and one seed, East Carolina, will then take on Binghamton at 7 p.m ET.
The first elimination game is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, and the winner’s bracket championship will be that night at 6 p.m. ET. The loser’s bracket championship will be Sunday at 2 p.m. ET with the first championship game to follow that evening at 6 p.m. ET. HOOVER, Ala. — Mike Minor pitched his second complete game victory in three games to lead Vanderbilt to a 4-1 win over No. 2 LSU Wednesday night in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference tournament at Regions Park.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Alabama outfielder Kent Matthes was selected 2009 SEC Baseball Player of the Year, LSU’s Louis Coleman was named SEC Pitcher of the Year and Florida first baseman Preston Tucker and LSU reliever Matty Ott were named SEC Co-Freshmen of the Year by a vote of the league’s 12 head baseball coaches. The top 8 SEC teams collide in Hoover this week with a conference tournament championship and automatic bid to the NCAA tournament on the line. The LSU Tigers find themselves as the top overall seed, posting a 20-10 record in SEC play and winning the tie-breaker over co-champion Ole Miss. Florida, the SEC East champs, earned the two seed. Share The SEC ends the regular season this weekend with each squad in conference play. Seven squads have booked a spot in the SEC Tournament with Kentucky and Vanderbilt battling for the eighth spot. Share I am pinch-hitting this week for Colin Weber as he had another commitment. The top series of the weekend sees Florida making their first trip to the new Alex Box Stadium to take on the LSU Tigers. The other marquee series is Arkansas visiting Alabama. The Vanderbilt Commodores have an important series at Georgia as they will give freshman Sonny Gray his first career start on Friday night. We also see Mississippi State visiting Ole Miss in an intrastate rivalry series. The other two series sees Auburn going to Kentucky and South Carolina heading to Tennessee. The road to the SEC championship will be well traveled this weekend with key series in both the Eastern and Western divisions. The LSU Tigers, leaders by a half game in the SEC West, travel to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in a series that has more than just SEC title implications.
