The Kitsap Blue Jackets play their home games at the Kitsap Fairgrounds and Events Center near Bremerton, WA, which is a one-hour ferry ride west of Seattle.
A wild West Coast League evening started with the completion of a game that was suspended after 16 innings on June 17 with the score 1-1, because the lights went out at 11 PM. It took another four innings to settle it. Andy Bethel (Washington) hit a ball into shallow center field with the bases loaded in the bottom of the twentieth inning. The outfielder dropped it to allow the winning run to score. Cody Hevner (hasn’t picked a college yet) got the win, and Steve Kalush (Santa Clara) got the loss. Box score and play-by-play The Knights defeated the Blue Jackets 1-0 the previous night (Liam Baron [Linn-Benton CC] pitched a three-hit shutout), and Blue Jackets owner Rick Smith, a Bremerton attorney, was quick to point out that his team had held the Knights, ranked #3 nationally by Perfect Game Crosschecker, to a total of two runs over 29 innings. BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — For the second year in a row, Jacksonville State has been picked as the preseason favorite for the nine-team league in a vote of Ohio Valley Conference head baseball coaches. Rick McCarty Joins Redhawks Baseball Coaching Staff
Southeast Missouri State head baseball coach Mark Hogan announced today that Rick McCarty will join the Redhawks coaching staff as the new pitching coach in the 2008-09 season. McCarty has five years of previous coaching experience, all coming at NCAA Division II Delta State University. FULL STORY

NASHVILLE – In a vote of Ohio Valley Conference head baseball coaches, Jacksonville State was picked as the 2008 preseason favorite in the 10-team league. The Gamecocks finished second in both the regular season and tournament last season. In additional voting, JSU senior outfielder Clay Whittemore was picked as the Preseason Player of the Year while Eastern Kentucky junior left-handed pitcher Christian Friedrich was named the Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Share November 14th was the first day that recruits for the 2008-2009 school year could sign their letter of intent. We have found many schools have put out a listing of the recruits who have signed already. A couple of highlights are that UCLA has signed three AFLAC All-Americans, Illinois picked up four in-state recruits, and finally Southern Miss picked up three players from Mississippi.
