Four schools list two players apiece among the honorees
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lubbock Christian (TX) University, 2009 national champions, has landed two players on the 2010 NAIA Baseball Preseason All-America Team, the NAIA announced Friday. Three other schools list two players apiece among the honorees, including Lewis-Clark State (ID), LSU-Shreveport and Saint Xavier (IL).
All 2010 Preseason All-Americans garnered postseason 2009 All-America honors. Ross Blondin of Lubbock Christian, Andrew Brouillette of LSU-Shreveport, Brice Cutspec of Azusa Pacific (CA), Tim Dunn of Trevecca Nazarene (TN), Jayson Koehn of Saint Xavier, Jono Waugh of Southern Polytechnic State (GA) and Justin Zinkovich of Embry-Riddle (FL) were all mentioned on the 2009 All-America First Team. Three other standouts were named to the All-America Second Team while seven players were All-America Honorable Mention picks.

Results from Day 4 of the NAIA Baseball National Championship in Lewiston, ID:
Lee 5, Berry 3 (Berry eliminated)
Brandon Cuniff and Josh Rose combined for a three-hitter that took only two hours and 15 minutes to play. Cuniff pitched the first 5 1/3 innings, allowed two runs on three hits, struck out three. Rose pitched the remaining 3 2/3 innings, allowed one run on one hit, struck out four. Cuniff got the win, and Rose got a save. Read the rest of this entry »

Results from Day 3 of the NAIA Baseball National Championship in Lewiston, ID:
Lee 5, Fresno Pacific 4 (Fresno Pacific eliminated)
Chris Warters hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give the Flames their first lead of the game, and Pablo Lopez shut down the Sunbirds for the final three innings to keep the Flames in the tournament. Read the rest of this entry »

Results from Day 2 of the NAIA Baseball National Championship in Lewiston, ID:
Southern Polytechnic 6, Campbellsville 5 (Campbellsville eliminated)
Southern Polytechnic, who came into the tournament ranked #5, got a home run in the top of the ninth by CF Josh Grooms to avoid a two-and-out exit. The Hornets trailed 4-3 going into the seventh, but they scored two runs in the top of the seventh on sacrifice flies by Grooms and DH Daniel Hester to take the lead for good. Grooms batted in four of the Hornets’ six runs.

Results from Day 1 of the NAIA Baseball National Championship in Lewiston, ID:
Lee 5, Campbellsville 2
The Flames got a two-run home run by 1B Chris Warters in the top of the first inning, and the winning run on a solo home run by C Chris Dubon in the top of the second. DH Junior Rodriguez added a solo home run in the fourth, and RF Julian Alvarez hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh.
Flames starter Matthew Gilson went 6 2/3 innings, allowed two runs (one of them walked in) on seven hits, struck out five, and walked four. Reliever Josh Rose retired all seven batters he faced, and struck out four of them. Read the rest of this entry »

At Lubbock, TX:

Results from the third day of the first-ever NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round, for May 14:
At Lubbock, TX:
#1 Lubbock Christian was upset by #18 Wayland Baptist 6-2. Marcus Limon pitched a complete game for the Pioneers, scattered nine hits, struck out 14. The Chaparrals’ starter, Jakob Cunningham, also went the distance, allowed eight hits, struck out nine. Read the rest of this entry »

Southern States Athletic Conference – at Columbus, GA: #6 Southern Polytechnic defeated #4 Berry 9-3 for the
championship. Jake Barrow was 3-4 with a double and two RBI for the Hornets; starter David Harden went eight innings, scattered eight hits.
Mid-South Conference – at Campbellsville, KY: #8 Campbellsville won the championship, defeating Georgetown College 7-5. Chris Curley hit two home runs, and Colin Bryan and Jimmy Voelker also hit home runs. Read the rest of this entry »

Southern States Athletic Conference - at Columbus, GA: #6 Southern Polytechnic took #8 Lee out of the tournament with a 6-3 win. Southern Polytechnic then lost to #4 Berry 9-3; Jason Dorcey pitched a complete game for the Vikings. The Hornets and Vikings will play one more game on Sunday for the championship.
Appalachian Athletic Conference - at Kingsport, TN: #10 Tennessee Wesleyan defeated Covenant 8-3. #14 Union defeated Virginia-Wise 14-4. Bluefield defeated King 5-4. Read the rest of this entry »
