Share The Southern Utah Thunderbirds have released the schedule for their 2010 campaign. The team will begin the season with a mid-week road game against UNLV (Feb. 23) before the home opener against Utah Valley (Feb. 26-27). The Thunderbirds then travel to Lewiston, Idaho, to take part in the Banana Belt Tournament (March 4-7). The team returns home for a weekend set against Kennesaw State (March 12-13) which will be followed by a season long ten game road trip where Southern Utah will take on San Diego State (March 16-17), Oregon State (March 25), Portland (March 26-28), Oregon (March 30), and Utah Valley (April 2-3).

The Kitsap Blue Jackets play their home games at the Kitsap Fairgrounds and Events Center near Bremerton, WA, which is a one-hour ferry ride west of Seattle.
A wild West Coast League evening started with the completion of a game that was suspended after 16 innings on June 17 with the score 1-1, because the lights went out at 11 PM. It took another four innings to settle it. Andy Bethel (Washington) hit a ball into shallow center field with the bases loaded in the bottom of the twentieth inning. The outfielder dropped it to allow the winning run to score. Cody Hevner (hasn’t picked a college yet) got the win, and Steve Kalush (Santa Clara) got the loss. Box score and play-by-play The Knights defeated the Blue Jackets 1-0 the previous night (Liam Baron [Linn-Benton CC] pitched a three-hit shutout), and Blue Jackets owner Rick Smith, a Bremerton attorney, was quick to point out that his team had held the Knights, ranked #3 nationally by Perfect Game Crosschecker, to a total of two runs over 29 innings. Friday, February 20th was the dawn of a new era in Texas Tech baseball. The changing of the guard was officially ushered in with a double header sweep of Southern Utah University and Texas-Pan American, moving Texas Tech to 2-0 for the first time since the 2006 season.
Game 1 got off to a quick start after back-to-back doubles gave the Thunderbirds a 1-0 lead over the Red Raiders. Tech answered quickly with a bases loaded 2-run double from freshman DH Kevin Whitehead and an RBI single from junior LF Taylor Ashby. From there, sophomore RHP Chad Bettis and the rest of the Raiders entered cruise control, finishing off the visitors with a 14-3 victory. Read the rest of this entry »

ELMHURST, Ill. − After winning its record 11th straight league championship a year ago, Oral Roberts was a unanimous decision to claim its 12th consecutive Summit League crown in 2009 as voted by the league’s eight head coaches.
The Golden Eagles collected seven first-place votes for a total of 49 points. Only five points separated the next three teams as Southern Utah placed second with 40 points, Centenary was third with 35 points and South Dakota State is in the fourth slot with 30 points and the final first-place vote. SDSU edged Western Illinois by one point, as the Leathernecks were selected fifth with 29 points. Oakland (17 points), IPFW (13 points) and North Dakota State (11 points) rounded out the voting.

Share Head Coach David Eldredge-Southern Utah
The Thunderbirds of Southern Utah and Head Coach David Eldredge will open the 2009 season in Lubbock, Texas to take on the Red Raiders of Texas Tech. It is a 3 game weekend series starting on Friday the 20th of February. Southern Utah return home for the home opener against Utah Valley with a 3 game series starting on Thursday the 26th of February.
