FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference Baseball players of the week were named today by the conference office as Texas State junior Lance Loftin claimed his first and team’s third weekly honors. Pitchers Bradley Chovanec of UTSA and Matt Whitaker of Central Arkansas are recognized by league votes as the Co-Pitchers of the week. Chovanec is the first pitcher to win two player of the week awards in the SLC and Whitaker takes home his first and team’s only weekly award of the season.

Austin outfielder Kevin Crabtree, A&M-Corpus Christi catcher Stephen Flora earn co-hitter of the week honors and SFA pitcher Lance Luetge is awarded his first honor of the season. Crabtree claims consecutive honors and his third of the season to lead the league marking the team’s fifth award behind 2008 regular season champion UTSA with six.

Austin outfielder Kevin Crabtree and A&M-Corpus Christi pitcher Omar Gutierrez are awarded weekly honors. Crabtree claims his second award on the year joining Mike Jaworski, Northwestern State, Trent Lockwood, UTSA and teammate Noel Trevino as the only players in the SLC to receive two player of the week awards. Gutierrez receives his first award of the season and the Islander’s third.

Trevino claims his second award on the year joining Mike Jaworski, Northwestern State and Trent Lockwood, UTSA as the only players in the SLC to receive two player of the week awards. Proudfoot is the third UTSA pitcher to receive the weekly award marking the fifth consecutive for UTSA.

FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference Baseball players of the week were named today by the conference office as senior 1B Trent Lockwood, Northwestern State senior 1B Mike Jaworski and Texas State senior right hander Steven Siers are awarded weekly honors. Lockwood and Jaworski each claim their second honor of the season tying for the league lead. Siers earns his first and team’s first for Texas State. UTSA leads the total team count with four awards on the year with three consecutive.
