NACOGDOCHES, Texas - SFA head baseball coach Johnny Cardenas announced the upcoming 2010 schedule on Wednesday, a full 56-game schedule that includes SFA hosting its first-ever tournament on the season’s second weekend.
The `Jacks are slated to take on four teams that made an appearance in the national rankings a year ago and four that also made the NCAA Tournament. The 23-game non-conference schedule blends with 33 Southland games just one year after the conference sent multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Lumberjack baseball team opened up fall practice on Monday with approximately 60 players reporting for duty as Johnny Cardenas and his staff begin preparations for the 2010 season.
The `Jacks can work as a full team for 20 practices in the fall with a intrasquad world series scheduled for the final week of practice.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin head baseball coach Johnny Cardenas has announced the signing of seven student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the upcoming 2010 season. The seven players include three junior college transfers, and four directly out of the high school ranks.
The all-Texas class includes three pitchers – Tyler Herriage (Weatherford JC), Kyle Rogers (Dulles HS), Cody Priest (Dobie HS) – and four position players – Darren Crabtree (Temple College), Bobby Loveless (Alvin CC), Cole Popper (Second Baptist Academy), Jordan Lewis (W.T. White HS).
"I think the guys we brought in can certainly make an immediate impact here at the Division I level," Cardenas said. "They will not only bring us plenty of options, but also give us tremendous balance as we compete for a Southland Conference championship next season."

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Lions jumped out to a big lead with seven runs in the first two innings, but it was the bullpen that came up big on Thursday for the Southeastern Louisiana baseball team (36-21, 22-13 Southland Conference) as the Lions held off a rally by the Northwestern State Demons (26-26, 18-15 SLC) to advance to day three of the 2009 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament with a 9-7 win on Wednesday morning.

The Bobcats claimed their third regular-season championship and their first outright title last weekend after finishing the regular season with a 38-14 overall record and 24-7 mark in conference play.

ARLINGTON, Texas – Matt Otteman had a career night hitting a grand slam and a three run homer to finish with a career-high seven RBI in UT Arlington’s 14-6 victory over No. 25 Texas State on Friday evening at Clay Gould Ballpark in Arlington. Eight Mavericks finished with multi-hit games and senior Andy Sauter pitched 3.2 innings in relief to win his fourth game of the season. UT Arlington improves to 29-24 overall and to 19-13 in the SLC while Texas State had its six-game SLC win streak snapped and falls to 38-14 overall and to 24-7 in league play.

FRISCO, Texas – Texas State clinched its third regular-season Southland Conference baseball championship last weekend and its 4-0 week, which included a road win at No. 2 Rice and a sweep of Nicholls State, has the Bobcats ranked 25th this week by Collegiate Baseball.
The Bobcats will be the No. 1 seed in the 2009 Southland Conference Baseball Championship, which will be played May 20-23 at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi. The other seven spots in the tournament have been field, but seeding has yet to be determined entering the final week of the regular season, which has teams scheduled to play Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
